When you make a series of videos that contain like literally all the information you need and they're still super relevant and helpful 5 years later, my guy, you have done well. Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and research.

Very good video bro . I Just did that exact setup . No college or any book smarts but I managed to figure out how to do these cob builds . I have spent countless days staring at my phone on the internet. I relied on the smart folks like you that have allready figured it all out . I'll use your video from now on when I explain it to friends. Very well put together and excellent explaining skills . Thank you !

I'm hella glad I came across your channel! This series is exactly what I needed. The way you describe, teach shit is perfect for my learning style. Yea I may have to watch these videos a handful of times to fully grasp all the knowledge, however you had my complete attention, 100%. That's saying a lot for someone like me that has mild adhd. Thanks for uploading!

Excellent intro video on the subject. To the point, stays on subject, provides lots of info without going into extreme details. which would confuse the issue. Moving on to the next one. Thanks.

I am going to go through and build enough lights to cover an 8'x10' area to really see for myself if I can get good results from them. @djsnowman06
@djsnowman06 6 лет назад
When running parallel, you can utilize a "crowbar" overvoltage protection. When the circuit sees a jump in voltage it shorts the cobs out of the circuit. As long as the switch (mosfet, igbt) can handle the full current of the supply, the remaining cobs would be protected. Parallel is not ideal for constant current sources, but it something that can easily be implemented into an existing array. Also, depending on how complex you want to get, a crowbar can trigger the driver to shut down as well, sound alarms, etc.

hello and thank you for your way over my head but close enough to educate me demonstration. this is actually what i was looking for. a video i can watch over and over and grow along with. i want to build a 4 shelf rack to start my vegetable seeds on but i want to do it with the best possible tech i can find. i also want to eventually power it with a solar panel, i know what a complicated way to waste sunlight right? first how can i make a simple led grow light to light a one foot by four foot shelf for growing tomato plants? and what would be my cost estimate in materials for such a project? any light you can shed on this would be much appreciated. thank you.

+growmau5 What's up dude. Thanks so much for doing these vids!!! I have watched this DIY series twice while taking notes,looked though all of your comments, and joined RIU. I have a similar grow space as SirEenis gib except mine is 24" X 30". I have been wondering about size for a passive heat sink. It is recommended to go 5.88 x 38. Obviously this will not fit in my space. You recommended a "big chunk" to SirEenis gib. Can you help me figure the right size? What do you think about (8) cxb3590 3500k, CD bin 36v version run on 2 meanwell hlg185h-c1400 drivers in this space? I have the money set aside for a LEC315 and I'm excited to see if I can build my own that would match or exceed it's output. Thanks again!

Hey man. I'm looking to build a light for a black orchid Geno box of size 50x100x50cm. Looking to create something like a T5 setup across the top but with LEDs of course. There's not much height in the tent so would need to be a low profile, Max efficiency, low heat, par output of maybe 400 just for keeping cacti and succulents compact over winter. Would love to hear your thoughts. I'm new to building but I used to build drones back in the day so have a decent enough knowledge to work from. Is it possible to do this stuff without soldering? Sick of that stuff after building drones as you can imagine ha.

I am working on doing vertical grow towers and have not been able to find a light good for that. Especially LED(the ole school hanging HPS aside) Now I can make my own custom corn cob style kine LED where I can set 3 channels, One for bottom light on when I have the seedling in the center, one for back half light on,(for when the system is closed in the circle configuration) or for just front half on, for when I'm running the system open configuration. (like I am not due to space restrictions)

Thanks for the great videos. I would like to know something about distance and discreet diode spacing in relation to how close you can hang lights to the canopy. If you have a light that is say 500w and you hang it 3 ft above the canopy to get a specific spread of the light, say a 4' x4' coverage, and you have an average par of some given # at that height could you take those same diodes and spread them over say a 4' x 4' space and lowered them to say about 8" over the canopy would/could you achieve the same par but have a more uniform coverage of the space. I am using par , could be photon but the basic question remains. Is this a good idea to pursue?
