DIY super bright custom light that attach to the Dewalt DCB091 usb power bank adapter. You can charge 2 devices and have some lighting at the same time.
Aluminum body makes this custom light very durable. It is also very compact. Take it with you when you travel or for your next camping trip by tucking it into your backpack.
You need the DCB091 adapter with the 12VDC output on the side. Unfortunately this adapter is only available when you purchase the heated jacket. I received my adapter as a gift i don't have the heated jacket and at the time of making this video i didn't know there was 2 adapter out there. The DCB090 doesn't have the 12v plug on the side. You can look at your local dewalt service center to buy the dcb091 adapter! ;)
This is my second project, i still have alot to learn! :) if you like it, please share and subscribe for more. Thanks for watching :)

For those people who don't know about above USB adapter... Ones you can buy from online stores are NOT this one. They do NOT have 12V hole on the side. Model number of those adapters are DCB090. Don't buy them. One used in the above video is DCB091, and this only comes with Dewalt heated jacket. Those heated jacket use 12V connector. But you can actually buy that one separately. According to DeWalt service part list, DCB091 costs about $25. That's actually cheaper than DCB090 ($29.97 from Home Depot) while having everything DCB090 has, plus more. Just go to servicenet.dewalt.com/ and search for part number N288459, which is the number for DCB091. Then you can just order from the web site (probably with shipping). If you have a service center near you, you can take this number (N288459), and ask for this. If they don't have it in stock, they will order one for you (at least, at the factory service center)

This guy is obviously a Jedi due to his amazing skills. He does not talk due to him being burned by acid as a small padawan, so please enjoy his videos without the asking for narration. His music is of his own choice so please let all frustration of his music choice be vented on some other video channel.

This is great. Often times people do these things with complicated wiring and welding. Then it looks like a homemade light thing. This looks like its professionally made. Very impressed with your attention to detail. Shrink tubing on the "L" brackets really put it over the top. Plus it's actually a relatively easy project!

Great build! I have the DCB091 supplied with my DeWalt heated jacket that provides the 12VDC plug on the side. If you don't have the jacket, you can order the jacket replacement part directly from DeWalt. Do not buy the DCB090 which has only the two 5VDC USB ports.

Very cool idea! I was wondering if you could do a diy to use The DeWalt power source as an inverter that you can use to plug things in with a standard plug?

how much was the cost of this project and how much power have this pannel?
@SEBTECHDIY
@SEBTECHDIY 7 лет назад
It cost me less than 15$ because i already had some parts. Cost depend on where you find yours materials but for example the 48LED panel cost 1.50$ each on ebay. The aluminum U channel cost around 6$, lexan sheet is around 10$ square ft. For the power, it uses 12v 3528 leds , 8 lumens each, total output of 768 lumens. It's pretty bright for a small light + you have 2 usb ports.

The dewalt battery in the video already cost more than $50 alone without the charger (with charger, it costs $80)... + some hardwares = ~ $80 .... You can buy a portable 30W 24-CREE LEDS floodlight Rechargeable from Ebay or some web site for $25 (free shipping) ... which is extreme bright (2500 lumens) and it can last 6-8 hours on a single charge. It also has the 10W, 20W for cheaper price, ~ $10- 20 ... Here is the link www.ebay.com/itm/201733685423?var=501652330574

I'm wondering how hot it gets. In hindsight do you think it needs heat dissipation heatsink on the back?
@SEBTECHDIY
@SEBTECHDIY 5 лет назад
It get pretty hot ahah, but so far no led have burned, i have used it several times but each time is almost for less than 1 hour so that help. I would like to add some heatsink to the back but with my design i don't really have enough space, and also the backing is lexan ( plexiglass ), i don't think it will dissipate the heat very well. But this is something i will think about if i make a 2.0 version. 😄

Good idea, it could be a good addition 👍. Do you know where I can find tiny dewalt stickers or dewalt logo like you find on clothes that I could stick on?? Thanks for your comment 😏
