Having done these types of laminations daily in the curved stair railing business I can offer some advise to keep your strips together instead of zip ties. Cut some scrap pieces having a length equal to the width of your bundle of strips. Put one scrap piece on each edges side of the bundle and use a clamp to hold the strips together. Do this every meter or so down the length of the strips with clamps to hold them together in place. Now take the bundle of clamped strips and place on your form and clamp in place. Remove the scrap pieces after you have finished clamping and before they get glued into place. This is a simple and effective way to handle the clamping of these very slippery strips. Enjoy.
