Insulating the coop is a great idea especially where I live, in the desert. I like watching videos like this for ideas to modify my existing coop. Thanks for posting.
I like your chicken ramp going to the side for extra space, I will borrow that idea 💡, im designing a 100% self watering system, so I never have to water the chickens, I also built some PVC feeders with no waste chicken feeders, you have a nice coop.
I use Wyze cams on my property on a regular, so nice to see it used in coops because this is what I had in mind. They now have the Wyze cam pan V3 which is 360 pan and water-resistant. Just need electricity. Great vid!
Yes! I love their camera offerings. I use 2 of the battery powered ones on the coop (1 to check the egg box and one under to check the food/water/door.) They last over 4 months on a charge when used infrequently.
Just wanted to say job well done 100%. Such a simple design yet fantastic, I'm in the process of what design to do, I'm going to do this one with a few changes to the inside.
I built 2 runs 12 foot by 36 feet. And did half of it pitched like yours but used the poly roof from Home Depot Have 24-30 in each run. Should of did whole thing. Wife complains when it rains a bunch cause you know chickens poop can stink when it gets soaked. Nice job brother
one idea is turn the window around so it not a catch for the rain and a 2x4 a cross the clean up door so the hay dont fall out every time you open it and use a gutter to catch rain water for them get some solar light that come on and a hunter camra to see who visiting at night
Nice coop and good video. The only thing I am curious about and can't quite understand is why the (basement) window seems to be upside down. I would very much like to understand your thinking or if it was arbitrary. Thanks for posting this !
Thanks for the comment Gordon, I never really thought about it until you said something. It was installed in this orientation in my basement as well, so I thought it was normal to be this way... but maybe it is upside down? Lol, I am not sure now, but it works well either way. Thanks!
Hi! Love the build for its simplicity - we are modeling our coop build off it as close as we can based off of what we see on the video and have just completed the walls. Just some questions: 1.) What are the dimensions of the roof "box"? Did you end up getting a 2 x 6 x 16ft board, or somehow fasten two 2 x 6s for the length of the box? 2.) How does the coop attach to the run? Did you use joist hangers for where the coop structure meets the frame of the run? Thanks so much again for the excellent ideas!
That's great! These are all very good questions. I can't remember the details at this moment but I will take a closer look at it tonight and get the dimensions for you soon.
@Ej Barracoso here is a quick video I made tonight to try to answer your questions. I hope it is helpful. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-fPzjZad2hBE.html
Hi! Thanks! We use a heated chicken waterer from rural king. They work awesome and last about 4 months on a charge.

Good to know! I was actually looking for black wire mesh but couldn't find any. Any recommended process for painting it? (Brush vs spray vs roller?) Since it is galvanized, I didn't know how well it would stick.
If You had only. 3 hens would you still free range? I can build one like yours but I don’t have room to free range. Would it be mean to keep 3 hens in the run only?
The main pen area floor is just wood chips. It depends on how many chickens... but so far I have replaced it 1 time in the last 3.5 years.. but I plan to do it again this spring.
