Love Love this pattern. I have made many sets of them now. I determined it was possible to have enough length to work with while not wasting as much cord by using 10 pieces at 70 c and 16 pieces at 47 cm. I used the 70 cm cords for each of the rings in the pattern.

Thank you so much♥️, I absolutely agree, the length can be shortened

I wish I had read this before I cut my cords! I made one more row of square knots when I realised the lengths were long but a lot of cord was still wasted Still, beautiful pattern!

I am confused on how much cord I will need total. It says 17 in the beginning but then 9 80cm and 17 60cm 🥴
@GreysMade
@GreysMade 3 года назад
Thank you for this question❤️ I wrote ‚17 meters‘ in the beginning. You understood everything correctly - 9 long cords and 17 short ones.

Such a pretty design. I made one with 3mm cord.. not the best, then I made a second with 2mm cord and I think it’s quite good… I adjusted the lengths from 80cm to 60 cm and the 60cm down to 40 cm. It worked!!! I don’t know if I work better with smaller cord or if it was because I had just finished one. These were my third and fourth pieces I have made since I was a kid 40 or so years ago!!! My next project is a basket to hold my macrame cord. I have been looking for a penguin pattern…

Absolutely gorgeous! This video is also (for me, at least) the perfect balance of speed and clarity. You show things slowly and clearly enough that it’s easy to see what you’re doing at the beginning of each step, and then you speed up a bit so the video doesn’t drag. 😊

A general rule of thumb is to use 4X the desired length/width. When I'm trying something new, I like to go 5x just for extra room. I know the comment is almost a year old, hopefully you were able go make your design!

Made this today following your directions to start and then changing it some to make my own. I was definitely intimidated at first, and annoyed by my knots coming out well. But, I quickly got it under control and was doing them easily by the end of it. 😂 thank you for taking the time to do this!

Hi! Here the cords are taken with a margin, so you can take the same measurements. It all depends on how tightly you tighten the knots.

@emilybach-spencer6165
@emilybach-spencer6165 3 года назад
3 ply twisted worked just fine. My tails are pretty long. I’m going to take several inches off my rope length for less waste at the end.
@wassilachel8923
@wassilachel8923 3 года назад
Can i do it with 2mm cord please?
@GreysMade
@GreysMade 3 года назад
Thank you for the question! With 2mm cord try to use 6 strands (3 for one side) instead of 4 when tying a Josephine knot. So that the knot itself is the same size as if it were tied with 4mm cord. Anyway, the thicker the cord is, the better. Then the inner part will have a large diameter, which is more practical.
