Girllllll! You just did something there! God bless you sis ❤️ I would recommend not throwing them away immediately after use. I would use a micro fiber towel with a scented dusting spray to do that part and turn the rag as it gets too dusty. Focusing on one end then the other to make sure to use the whole side of the rag, turn it inside out when one side of the towel is full, etc. just a thought ☺️
it seemed like a neat idea at first, (and maybe I'm slow/ picky/ both) BUT using this method made me take at least 1 hour for each set of blinds, and cleaning 5 sets of blinds today (3 full length, 2 shorter ones) took me a total of 7.5 hours. They haven't been cleaned for 2.5 years, but still it was insanely exhausting (and depressing). Recommend taking them down and just using a hose to wash the dust and dirt off.
I like the thong method. Think ill give it a try. I use the dryer sheets. I Hold blind w/ L hand. + have dryer sheet between thumb + foreFinger while going across each blind. Still a pain in the arse. My windows are too ugly to just put up curtains😶😵😵😵
Great idea! I dust with dryer sheets too. They work amazing. Funny story, we actually check our retail stores dumpsters because for some reason they throw all kinds of new things away. I need to make a video on this because we have gotten so much nice for free. No shame it's fun. But, my husband the other day checked the dollar tree one and they thru away a whole box of those brand new wet wipes packages. I need to send you some😊Great video girly💖have a wonderful day.
Unbeleivable! I always avoid cleaning those blinds because of it being a pain in the a** and it takes me all day to clean them so thank you for the "cure" of dirty blinds!!😖 I'll be doing this before my Christmas party!☺
We just did a power hour the other day and didn't get to cleaning the blinds. At first I was bummed, but now I am excited that my blinds are still dirty so I can use this hack! LOL!
You can get a pre made one for about $5 bucks in several places. Many have a removable washable microfiber attachment so in the end it’s more economical and no waste.
I bought one of those and they don't work all that great because with tongs you can exert much more pressure to get the dirt off instead of spreading it around. I'm going to try dryer sheets.
I am definitely going to try this. I normally just get a bowl of water and cleaner and use a wash cloth. I absolutely hate doing it that way it takes forever so I tend to not clean them often. This is a LIFE CHANGER!! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Shut the front door!!! Where has this been all my life (adult life anyways lol) that is such a great hack! I will be trying this when I get home 😬 have a great Wednesday Katie!! Love from Mississippi 💕
Like it for convenience. Not so much for environment and health. (Developmental neurotoxins and other harmful substances might be in your dryer sheets, lots of little wipes for the landfill.) Wonder if you could just spray white vinegar with a bit of dish soap (scent free) on microfiber. Or dish soap first , then follow with vinegar . Takes longer but ok with me. The tongs are a great idea. Going to try that aspect.
I was stressing over cleaning everything in my home especially the blinds as I have 15 blinds with 8 of them being the size of large picture windows.. I'm 5ft 1 on a good day so anything to help me clean faster and better is a plus.. I've got everything I need in my home now as I watch the video. I am missing Rubber Bands, so when the stores open guess who will be inline with a ball of Rubber bands!. I'll probably get a couple extra couple pair of long tongs so I can store them in the front and back of my home as it is rather time consuming running from the front to the back of the house. My blinds are all the smaller width of blinds so we will see how well I can do this without bending the little panels. Is there anything you can put on the blinds to help repel the dust? I will give a look at your video's to see if there are anymore easier ways to do things.. I have a ton of those Swifter dry and Wet Pads but other than wiping up what little space I have that isn't carpet, they aren't used much at all.. So will do all the above with the Swifter products I really do need to use up.. Thanks Katie for an enlightening early morning tip...:)
This is really cute. Question, is this easier than just wiping with a wet microfiber towel with my hands (like using the same wrapping method of top and bottom of the blinds, by sandwiching the blind with the towel the same way you did with the tongs). Is this somehow faster or more effective, or just fun? Thank you
So clever! Definitely trying this out! Thank you for all the cleaning inspo & good vibes 🎉💖 You & the other cleaning/lifestyle channels have really helped me get my -ish together! My house has never been cleaner & I finally feel like I have a good routine. I had company drop in unexpectedly & it was SO nice not panicking about how the house looked. I'm tempted to start filming too since you make it look so fun! 😍✨✨✨
That is such a great comment to read! Thanks for letting me know! I feel like getting a good routine down helps so much. I will pass this comment along to some of my cleaning youtube friends. :)
Hi Katie, when doing this do you use the same sheet or do you have to be changing it every couple/ few( sry don't know what they are called) rows of the blinds? Silly question, haha! Thanks for sharing this great DIY!
I love yhe dryer sheet idea ! I will use this in a positive way to clean my blinds( I'm positive I hate my blinds) Just maybe If they smell great I wont look them with impending doom lol 😊. I loved the video
Katie Thank you for this tip! Girl my blinds are needing cleaning bad and I keep putting it off because it's a pain..This looks easy YEAH! Going to try this for sure. I also wanted to tell you that I tried the vinegar & Dawn on the sponge scrubber thing for the showers and we use it everyday and I LOVE IT! Thank you soooo much! 👍👏
It look's like a good Ideal, my concern with your method, look's like after every few individual blind slabs, you'll have to throw away the softener sheet's that right there is a waste of sheet's especially if you have a lot of blind's to do. I'll past with this method.
dryer sheets at the dollar tree are super cheap. It's not too bad of an investment for a first time cleaning. Maintenance after that shouldn't be too bad, You probably can just use a duster if you clean then regularly moving forward.
Complete rubbish, you would have to replace the wipes for every single blind or all your doing is transferring the dirt from one to the next. Just my point of view as a professional cleaner.
