Hi everyone, welcome to Sherri’s Heavenly Apothecary. I’m Sherri, and today I’m really excited because we are making a magnesium oil body butter, and boy does my body need it! I hope you will come along and join me. I talk about the benefits of magnesium and why we need it and why I’m choosing to make a topical body butter magnesium application.

And as always, here is the recipe as promised:
Magnesium oil:
1/4 C. hot distilled water
1/4 C. magnesium flakes - sodium chloride, not Epsom salt
Mix together and set aside to cool down
2 Tbs - Beeswax
3 Tbs - Shea butter
1/4 C. - Coconut Oil
1.Melt beeswax on double boiler and then add Shea butter and coconut oil until melted
2.Blend oils together to ensure all are fully incorporated
3.While blending, slowly pour in magnesium oil, a little at a time to ensure full emulsion continue to blend thoroughly while adding small amounts of magnesium oil at a time
4.Then place in the refrigerator for 15 minutes and blend again after 15 minutes.
5.If this is the consistency, you like you can jar up or stick back in the fridge for another 15 minutes and let it set up even further and mix again.

Also interested in the tea. Does this body butter need to be refrigerated for storage? I will definitely be trying this recipe! Thank you!

Thanks for watching! I will make the tea video soon. You certainly can keep it in the fridge but it’s not necessary. You just want to keep it in a cool dry place 😊

Hi! Thanks for watching! ❤ Yes! Normally we would use a preservative because of the water in the product, but due to the high sodium content in the magnesium (which is sodium) we don’t need it, as sodium acts as a natural preservative on its own. I will use this up before the shelf life expires, which is 3-6 months so I’m not at all worried about it. Although a preservative can be used too, just make sure to follow percentage rates for the volume which is roughly 8.5 oz 😊
