Very detail vedio. I already planed something like this in future for my room and was worried about carpanter but now i get idea and after measurements i can easily built it for my self how i want and will save alot of money. Thankyou so much. I have a suggestion if possible kindly add a picture of measurements u make while working on any project this will definately help us alot.
The TV unit really looks neat, one of my favourite DIY video, please can tell how you lock the French cleat system from sliding the unit from left to right? Cheers
Thank you so much for the support! The unit is very heavy and you will need about 3 to 4 people to lift the unit so it won’t move, it will basically hang like a picture frame. We also design the unit so its removable, if maybe-in the future you have to remove the unit to sort out cables or have to do any repair work on plugs etc..
Very nice design. Also very great video. Two Q's: 1) The French cleat that fits on the mdf board seems to be only fasten with normal chip board screws. Is the screw strong enough for the weight of the TV and the unit you built ? 2)Do you fasten the wall french cleat with an expansion screw?
Thank you 😇 Yes we use alot of chipboard screws, one screw will obviously break, but 20 screws on one beam will do the job. Yes we use extended roll bolts on the wall side.
What tool did you use to make that incision for the lock catch? As well as what tool do you use to make the holes for the round part of the lock? Thanks in advance.
@@diywithgreg thank you I'm from mpumalanga but unfortunately we or let me say I'm not aware as yet where I can get something to start up like most here they wanna sell you woods which are already polished they don't understand the concept that I wanna learn everything from scratch
Great Job Greg! It looks fantastic!! I had a question though .. What would you do if such floating unit was requested to have a hanging tv AND a soundbar? How would you advise to hang the soundbar below the tv? And how should the wiring be arranged behind the unit so that its servicable/accessible? Thanks!!
The wooden part may be massive but your TV is miniscure. In this day and age, you will regret that purchased such a small TV. In other words, your design doesnt allow you to get a larger TV whch will be probelmatic down the road.
