I take my messenger bag with me everywhere. I decided to make another one for a friend and do a video on how I made it.

I just followed your tutorial and made a man bag for my best friends husband. You explained everything so well and so easy to understand! I am an experienced sewer so I added a few more pockets here and there and used contrasting fabric for the flap. I have to admit it was nice not having to use pattern pieces and pins! I did want to say that I am amazed you came up with this without following a pattern...kudo's to you!! Thank you for this wonderful tutorial!!

An option for you. Do a top stitch along the bottom of the 2 side pockets to encase the raw edges. You can add an additional 1/4 to 1/2 inch to the packet length to prevent any loss of space of you require it.

I would recommend to make the D-ring straps longer and sew it to the sides at least about 4 inches. This way it will diffuse the weight of the bag in a wider area and this way you would avoid eventual tearing below the straps.

@21:58 a tip for turning the straps easy is to use a safety pin. I'll be much easier that way.👍🏿👍🏿👍🏿! That's a very nice bag btw, I like it

I bought it at Joann's fabric. It's not very powerful but it does fine for small pieces. It may have to work hard to do shirts and pants. OMG. I want this man too. I love seeing man doing sewing, knitting, crochet, etc. I love to have husband like that and going to fair market to sell handmade stuff and show the husband and say to customers: "Hey he handmades too and me too." LOL.

I absolutely love the pattern. Making one for my son, old denim fabric with Harley-Davidson fabric for lining.. My problem was discerning the difference between fleece, canvas and lining. Everything is white. My old eyes. I ended up sewing and ripping out a couple of times. However, now I've got it, and love it. thanks for sharing.

@@Growyourheirlooms you will find it easier to go through that that many layers with what is called a denim needle. It's made specifically for going through thick Fabrics.
