the bubbles are your locs budding the budding is going to happen through out the shaft of the loc and will work its way up and down the locs and eventually shrink as they mature making the whole loc the same size this process usually starts at around the 2 month mark some people call the budding phase “ugly phase” but it’s perfectly normal you shouldn’t really mess with those bubbles cause that might make your locs a weird shape as you get farther in your loc journey
You are my new loc hero! I told you a little about how my daughter and I removed my SisterLocks a couple of months back on your last video. I genuinely admire your ability to undertake this task yourself. Believe me, I don’t think anyone could have done better than what you’ve done. Wish I could do my own, but realistically, I know I would never finish!😁. Thank you for sharing your journey thus far...wishing you all the best!
I also had to repair locs when I was doing the 4 point rotation. Recently, I switched to 3 point to allow my hair more space in the loc to expand and grow so that the locs can do what they want. They really want to be spongy, the 3 point rotation allows them to do so while my ends, that are done with the 4 point, loc and begin to mature. My ends are closing up and budding in a lot of places, and I never have to repair the ends. The 4 point just doesnt vibe with my new growth though and 3 point rotations also are so much easier for me. Another thing, I also just snip married hair and then wrap it around the locs I cut it from to add it back into the base of the lock. I hated trying to slowly pull it and most times it didnt want to come out at all.
New subbie here. I love your work. I actually have sisterlocks, So I understand the freedom you feel from having to style every day. Get use to spongy parts. It's your hair celebrating it's freedom of growth 😊. You'll notice it more and appreciate the nuanced beauty of it. I love supporting natural hairnistas 💯💯💯.
I just wanted to say thank you so much for creating this series of videos! I have had traditional locs for 10 years and want to transition to microlocs. At first, I was willing to shell out the $1500+ to have someone install for me, but after watching wonderful youtubers like Feneti and RoseDAnnor and ultimately your channel, watching how others achieve this style on their own made me question why can't I do it myself?? I am capable and have been doing my own hair for many years, so thank you! I have one question, would you be possibly releasing a video on how you created your grid? That would be immensely helpful to me once I get to that stage of planning. P.s I am also from NYC! I hope you're staying safe in these tough times. •
Selam Mulugeta I was hoping for maybe a more detailed video on the parting like how she mentions in her part 1 video (time mark 8:42)! Thank you for the reply!
I've been doing mini/micro twists for the last 2 months or so trying to see if i want to try locs again. I've had them 3 times before and they always thin out an break. Idk if my hair just doesn't like them, can't handle the length/weight of them or what. But EVERY time i watch one of your videos it makes me want to try again! Right now i have min twists in but i tried to create a pseudo grid just in case i decide to just let them loc or to untwist each one and redo it as a real loc. You are slowly but surely inspiring me back to loca.
Just found you today from napsarethenewblack on Instagram and this has 10000% inspired to restart my loc journey. I currently have diy braidlocs that I started Dececmber 26th and have been thinking about redoing them with interlocks because I don't really like the braid pattern and size of my locs as much as I thought I would. So watching your experience has inspired me to use this "free time" to actually do my locs the way that I want them.
Love it! I started my micro lock journey a little over a week ago. Your videos really inspired me to go ahead and start the journey, as well as document mine on youtube so i can hopefully inspire someone else.
I think you're doing really great! With your texture, you might see some of those closed ends by month 6 like you predict. I still barely have closed ends at month 18, but I think that's because of my texture, where the circumference of my coils is much wider than my locs in most places. Your retie is soooo neat!!
Please be well. Also, I LOVE your locs. I want to do mine and am getting inspiration from your videos. I have been wanting to do mine for years. I pray I get it done. Yours look so so great. You go girl. Love & prayers
@@QueenEleem thank you Queen. I had locs years ago. I started them with Coils back then. I am almost half way through. I waited too long so my hair is to my armpit in spots and to my chin in the front. I have so much breakage and different lengths throughout Ithat I am starting with tiny braids. I see tiny short pieces throughout. The braids are so fuzzy and small that i believe they will loc fast. I will retouch with the interlocking method. I tried one .... omgeee it was soooo difficult because its SUUUUPER thin on the tips, with several lengths. But I was SOOOOO PROUD of that one I must say. But I must do it fast as I can because of the condition of alot if not most of my sections. I am getting there. I know you did NOT ask for all of that explaining LOL! Thank you.
I just want to say thank you so much for starting your journey! You literally gave me every step I need to microloc my daughters hair. I will be sharing more information about her journey along with my own. #newsubscriber
Please be mindful of retightening so often, it can cause more harm then good, especially in the front of your head. Allow your locs to do what they need to do.
Yeah I spent a week and locked mine (2nd time being locked). I only locked 1/4 to 1/2 of the shaft to have the curl to my hair on the end still (it's an experiment since I couldn't find anyone that tried it). So I'm sure I'll have the spongy/bubble problem as the locked part loosens down the shaft. I wish I had the patience to do neater parts like her.
OK, I have watched EVERYONE of you videos at least 3 times!!! WANT WANT WANT!!!M Next question....DO YOU KNOW WHERE?? WHERE?? WHERE??? Can I get this done in NYC????? AND!! NO! I can't do them myself! LOL!! Thanks!!!
If you want them done by a professional just google sisterlocks. Or go tot he sisterlocks website and look for a consultant. There are also a couple shops that do them in Brooklyn that aren’t on the website
I’m going to begin my daughters locs. I am also considering taking my locs down and reinstalling microlocs. Nothing else to do, being locked in the house 🤷🏽♀️
Honestly this style is completely worth it. Every other style Ive worn my hair in has taken a LOT more upkeep than this. Only 14 hours of retightening every 4 weeks comes out to 30 mins a day which is markedly less time than my natural loose hair took to maintain.
So I wash it in braids in the morning, and wait until it’s mostly dry to remove the braids. But once I remove the braids my hair still does a lot of shrinking bc it’s still slightly damp. So once it’s completely dry I put it in 2 French braids and sleep with it overnight. That usually gives me my length back. I’m actually trying to keep it stretched so as to avoid the bunching.
