Welcome back to Little by Little by Liz for the full video / tutorial on my DIY hardwood and tile flooring in the the bathroom and closet area of the top floor!
Both the popsickle sticks and hexagon tikes were both from the dollar store! It was approx $6 in the wood products for this project!
Cardboard for the backing to make the floor removable will get me one storey worth done for $2
Paint was on hand from previous craft projects! Stain and top coats were also previously owned and used by husband In other projects for work - making the upfront cost to me, zero.
The organic tile transition was a must for me, I really want to play around with this in other places in the house as well. Little by little this house is coming together, being a stay at home mom with a ten year old and a toddler makes completing anything substantial challenging.. 😅 but nevertheless I’m getting things done.
I used two stains on the wood flooring, a single coat of grey called Weathered Oak and followed it up with one coat of the stain called Golden Oak. I topped it off with a thin layer of a semi gloss finish.
The tiles were painted with simple grey and greige craft paint I had on hand, the black was a chalk paint by FolkArt. I finished them off with a gloss top coat, I wanted a bit of shine but not too much since a lot of tiles these days are matte.
The shower walls will be glass with black frame with subway tile walls.
