@@bookbindig_studio I probably already have some of the tools from other hobbies, I didn’t buy any supplies for my first Coptic bound book, I just used things I already had. My second book (already started) will also be Coptic bound - hopefully better than the first. I’m using cartridge paper as it’s going to be a sketch book for my son. I like the way the books open flat, should be good for drawing. Just need to get the tension right, the last one was a bit tight so the top cover doesn’t quite lay flat.
@@belindawallace5203 The Coptic binding can be difficult to master but it is true that the opening is 180 degrees and is ideal for sketchbooks. There is a very simple type of binding to make that also has a 180 degree opening, it is called Australian Binding. I am going to share two links to my other youtube channel where I show how to make these bindings, in case they are of interest to you! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-OtmjU9K-nIQ.html ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2dbxqY964y4.html
I for some reason like the idea of making a book when I could buy one at the store. I wanted something easy that I could do with little experience. Out of all the tutorials I've watched, THIS IS THE ABSOLUTE BEST ONE! Thank you so much!
@@Cortesevasive 😆😆"a freaking saw".....exactly.😅😅 I think it would be far easier if you just sew it instead of using all that huge amount of glue.....just my opinion...
I wrote many novels and print out them. But always I face a problem that, how to bind and how to cover a book. But now you solved my problem. Thank you very much.
An even better video, you give the measurements of the spine between the two pages, thank you for that. Another great instructional video on book binding, thank you very much.
Ayyy!! Gracias!!
Its a trashy halfass method, it doesnt open flat and the pages arent held strongly. You would literaly be better off if you used industrial staple gun. The only real way is the sewing, it holds strong and can open 180degrees, and its only marginally harder because you still have to do all the gluing .
@@Cortesevasive The thing is i have very small singular square pieces of paper. They are too small for sewing. So i kind of think this way is more suitable for my case
Thank you for your video. Yesterday I made a "book" with your technique, but I was not well prepared. I had some printed pages I wanted to bind together fast but it were like only 15 pages and I was impatient. So I didn't glue them and let it dry first, I had a thread that was way to thick and no metal saw, only a woodsaw on a victorinox pocket knife. Instead of your cutting technique I used a hole puncher for diskbinding which worked very well because it gave the thicker thread enough space to sit in. And still, it is awesome and I am very happy. Semplicemente meraviglioso.
This is a great tutorial. Only t hing is @3.01 3cm does not equal 1.58 inches. It's 1 3/8 inches, which is a very different thing. Not the end of the world, but the spacing is quite different.
