This is a long video, but hopefully it will be informative enough to keep you interested. As I stated, this is not a turorial, but just a bunch of ideas I have tried. It is and always will be a "work in progress". Please feel free to comment as we all can learn from each other. I mentioned GoStatue mold from ebay and Clay Magic molds in this video so you can go here www.ebay.com/s... for gostatue and here www.claymagici... for Clay Magic. Thanks for watching!
Again:
www.ebay.com/s... for gostatue

Thank you for showing this. I never thought of using common items to make those molds. Looks so easy to make. I will have to try that. Thanks again.

It seems the older I get the harder it is to come up with both the time and ideas for videos. Thanks for the comment!

I know you have so much information to share, so here's some questions Do you buy or make your own glazes? Do you only do electric firings/microwave firings or do you also do wood or raku? Do you only make bisque molds or do you also make plaster molds to make glass forms? I'm sorry if you've already answered these questions.
@CaptMike

@@mikkiland The only glazes I have formulated are ash glazes and I only have electric kilns except for the experiments I did with "pit" firing. I do Raku in the electric kiln I have especially for that. it is not a good idea to use your regular kiln for Raku as opening the kiln up when it is so hot tends to be determental to the bricks & elements. I make ceramic molds for working glass and plaster molds for slip casting. Hope this helps.

Love what you do. Your industrial plaster, do you have to kiln it before using? I am an old man and just started doing hypertufa mushrooms with pantyhose. Does something nice, but I love what you do. But your industrial plaster looks like up my alley.

No heat required. Just mix, pour and let it set!

Have you ever tried slip casting in the microwave kiln?
@CaptMike
@CaptMike 10 месяцев назад
Yes, smll cps sem to work well. Due to the rapid increase in the temps there will be lots of failures.

@@CaptMike Okay, probably not the best combination then. I didn't realize that it had to be fired differently than normal clay. Haven't really been able to find much on the process of firing slip. Could it have something to do with whether it is dry enough before or is it the material itself that cannot handle the sudden high temperatures do you think?
@CaptMike
@CaptMike 9 месяцев назад
@@srenjensen9412 it's not so much what the item is in the kiln, but the density of the clay object and how fast the kiln heats up. If your piece (say a cup) is completely dry and you heat in incriments of say 3 minutes each you should be able to sucessfuly (sp) bisque the piece.
