Hi Rin! I have a question since you tried it out. I really want to try this but I want to know how big of a change will there be because my parents will not allow me to do it if it will be really noticeable...can you please tell me how the results were compared to your hair before you tried it?
Tamara T I know I’m several months late to this, but if you want to be extra careful, judging by what I’ve learned so far I would leave it in for maybe an hour, and just do that every day or every other day until you reach a colour you like. That’s what I would try :P
The most noticeable results I've gotten are from using strong camomille tea in my hair, super wet then let dry until only damp. Then use 1 tablespoon honey, 1 teaspoon cinnamon then only enough olive oil for it so be enough for your hair. At this point the mixture shouldn't be runny which makes it easy to put the hair in a bun then in plastic (shower cap for whole head). In the morning my hair was 1 shade lighter and soft. Use a lot of conditioner tho, there's some damage still
Be careful with the cinnamon, though. When I did this I got flaming red everywhere the mix touched my skin. Didn't burn and disappeared in a few hours, but it freaked me out. And don't go out in the sun, since the lemon juice could burn for real. Love your channel and your new videos!
I've watched hundreds of these videos this week, but THIS is the best and only one that described everything perfectly and showed the results and how many times you did it and for how long. Tomorrow I'm starting with this recipe! I have very dark brown hair but with natural blonde highlights on the sides. Let's see if I can achieve a lighter brown throughout my entire hair :)
Can either of you give an update to how it went for you please? I’m interested to try a way of lightening my hair naturally and I wanna see what things people get the best results with :D
Hmmm I may try this on my roots. My natural hair is quite dark now since I don't get much sun (my hair is light brown but can go to blonde very easily in the summer). I don't want to bleach my roots because I'm trying to grow out my hair from purple. I'd love to see my natural hair color again for a while. This seems like it would bring some blonde highlight back to my hair. I'll give it a try on a small section and see how it goes ^_^ Thanks for posting this!
I've used lemon and honey (and chamomile), but never thought of combining them, never mind adding them to oil. I always end up with ombré hair because my dark blonde quickly goes several shades lighter naturally in the summer sun, even though I stay away from it, haha. I just don't like it to be quite so ombré, lol: a bit less contrast is better.
I'm definitely going to try this because I try to stay away from box dyes. 2 questions for you. Do you have to use shampoo to rinse or can you just rinse it out with water? What would be a good substitute for the oil you used?
kristiekat You'll want to wash it out completely to stop the lightening process. Also, nkke is right, any vegetable based oil will do. Olive oil, coconut oil, whatever you have lying around! :)
Brilliant video, u described this very well. First question: is it permanent. Second: will it be able to over time transform my hair from light brown to dark dirty blonde????x
From my understanding, honey HAS to be raw to lighten hair. Store bought honey has been heated (which kills the ability to turn to peroxide) and is often not even totally real honey. Anything that lightens does damage hair, though...maybe not as much as store bought lighteners, but it still has to open the hair shaft and remove color. I used to spray lemon juice and water on my hair and sit in the sun for an hour or two and that also lightens well.
Im asian, and i have very thick black/dark brown hair. I've dip dyed it before and bleached the ends to dip dye it. It didnt work out too well lol. Will this work on my hair?
This is awesome! I actually found a herbal coloring balm in dark chocolate colour, to slightly darken my hair, but it lasts about 2 weeks and then washes off, so maybe after I will try to lighten some parts :)
A warning to people with really sensitive skin: if you get it on your scalp, neck, or face, it can really burn if you leave it on for a while. I can't use cinnamon for this reason. Otherwise, this sounds like it should be a nice way to lighten hair!
@@Jayaa.Nishad it can give you a bad skin reaction that itches and burns, turning red and peeling like a sunburn. It just depends on your skin chemistry.
I have very dark brown hair almost to my butt and I think it's thicker than yours. Would this still work? Also how easy is this to mess up?is there a way to tweak it to get the cinnamon to give a reddish tint? Thanks in advance!
I did try this it's more of turned out red may be the cinnamon effect..And I did not find raw honey so the organic store honey I used. I think I got to do it a couple of times more to get the results...What's the option for honey coz it's difficult to get pure raw honey here these days...So I would really appreciate if you would suggest some more options for the type of honey apart from the raw one..
Can I add a strong chamomille tea? I am a little afraid of the cinnamon, I dont want my hair to go too red (although brown hair usually lightens to a redder shade)
for how much tym we have to leave the mixture in our hair after applying the mixture in our hair? Nd will it burn our skin, I'm already suffering from an allergy on my face ,so will this mixture cause any harm toh my face?
Seriously though, bleaching is sooo bad for your hair! I had heard that before but didn't really heed the warnings. For most of college I would dye my hair blue, but because it's naturally so dark I had to bleach it all out first before adding the color. Once I stopped, my hair was just fried and I swear on my life it grew all of maybe two inches for the next year and a half!! It's been a while now but it has taken so, so much time, vitamins, and extra careful care to get it even close to healthy again :(
I'm kind of scared to leave it on over night I don't want it to be super light... I just want to make it like a light brown since my hair is super dark
My hair is brown, but it has natural blond and red highlights in it...do you think the lightener will make my hair more redish? or blondish? kinda scared to try...
Gloria Tashjian My hair is The same as you, with light brown, almost blonde highlights. I've tried the honey and chamomile recipe, and it only managed to lighten my highlights even more. Mine turned a lighter blonde. Now I'm gonna try this one :) did you try it?
nifan I haven't tried it yet! I'm not sure when i want to do it, but i keep forgetting! lol But if you end up trying it, let me know how yours turns out! :)
Last time I did something with oil for my hair, the oil wouldn't wash out and I was stuck with oil hair after washing my hair up to 8 times. How do I prevent this!?
Use conditioner all over your hair first! Sounds crazy, but it works. Another option is to add a little baking soda to your shampoo and do an ACV rinse or to spritz with ACV and water and let it set for about 20 minutes before washing your hair.
Anna Roed Hobolt Be sure to apply generous amounts of shampoo to the whole length of your hair, twice if needed. If you usually use a very mild shampoo, you might have to reach for a slightly more cleansing one to get oil out of your hair.
Anna Roed Hobolt if you're not apposed to putting baking soda in your hair, mix baking soda and water and that will get ALL the damn oil out it's worked for me many times. Just put it all over n rinse it out.
No it's actually strips color of the hair ! So it doesn't put a color on top of it so don't worry I have (chemically )ombré hair and it made it so much lighter( I put it only on my ends ) !!!
Jill Chirinos I think a youtuber names holistichabits did. I don't think anyone watching this went to extreme since it may end up with bad results as our hair types are different.
Breanns Life generally this would be true but science tells us that honey with some of the other ingredients do generate hydrogen peroxide, hydrogen peroxide being the ingredient in lighteners that "bleaches" hair. Although you won't get the strong effect of salon lighteners the recipe she gives us will lighten the hair slightly and more with continued use. I'm also a licensed cosmetologist.
