That's a great video! I recently bought my very first Gameboy advance and advance SP handhelds (without boxes) and was searching all over the internet for box sizes but your video made it very easy! Thanks a lot and keep up the great work

Wonderful video, thanks. I bought an inkjet printer after watching your video. Now I have to make boxes for all my loose games xD The tool you are using has many names, one of which is Embossing Stylus. It is sold also under the name burin (which is more generic), and it's used for embossing, engraving, sculpting clay, etc.

Aloha ! Congrats on your new printer ! A-ha.... an embossing stylus. It loks more like this thing than an binding awl. The awls has no ball on the end 🙂 Cheeeeeeeeeers Jecepede

For a first video, this is exceptionally good! Well done! One thing though: Did I miss something or did you forget to include the part where you make the plastic inserts (the beds)? I would have liked to see that too. I guess the next tool in your arsenal would be to build a retro-bighting tub for removing the yellowing on plastic. :)
@jecepede
@jecepede 2 года назад
Aloha I thought of showing the making of the 'beds' but I figured it would make the video boring. It is basically more cutting and folding. Note to self: Make a retro-brighting video some day :-D
@musicalboxbitspieces
@musicalboxbitspieces 2 года назад
@@jecepede I should have payed more attention. You do mention that you "printed, cut, folded and glued" the plastic beds also. We only see them for a fraction of a second and they look good. At first I thought maybe they were vacu-formed or something.

Thanx 🙂 Indeed, sometimes NintAndBox has not got the cover you search for or perhaps the wrong region. I have a EU copy of Chicken Run for GBA which is not on NintAndBox. I eventually found pictures of the box on the site : www.thecoverproject.net/ Then I just used a template from NintAndBox to recreate my own box. A bit of enthousiastic Googling/Binging/DuckDuckgoing did the trick 😀

Great video - wondering which boxes went on which paper? The Rescue of Princess Blobette box has a really authentic looking inside. Which of the two papers did you feel was more close to the original?
@jecepede
@jecepede 9 месяцев назад
Aloha ! I'm in the middle of moving but tried to find the printed boxes anyway. Unfortunatly I had no luck. However, if Memory serves. Mario Kart was on the thicker inject paper, as was Blobette. For the other two, Tomb Raider and Zen, I used the thiner paper printed in the laser printer. For me personally, the thicker the better. It makes for really sturdy boxes and inlays, or 'beds' if you prefer 😀 The reason why the box for Blobette looks more realistic is due to the fact I had printed the sheet on both sides. On the inside I printed a cardboard pattern I found online and on the outside the cover (obiously). The box I liked most were the Mario Kart and the Tomb Raider boxes. They looked most authentic. Next time I should print samples to get the color correct(er)... Cheeeeeeeeeers, Jecepede

@jecepede
@jecepede Год назад
Thank you. I used both my own Inkjet and the printer at work. For example; I printed the Mario Kart on my own inkjet and Tomb Raider on the work-printer. Quality of both prints is very good. The work-printer actually wins in terms of sharpness but the inkjet has more vibrant colors.

6:46 Well I don't have a printer, so I ask some shops that are specialized on printing. When I donwload (A4 type)and ask them to print, I find the boxes too big... Do you have any suggestion how to make the scans with the right dimensions ? - Pixel Nova
@jecepede
@jecepede Год назад
That is a very intersting question. I myself have no expirience with print shops but perhaps you can point out the little scale most box scans have. What you might also be able to do is use a photo editor and change the size of the image. Most photo programs have not only pixels but also mm or inches... Cheeeeeeeeers Jecepede

Aloha ! I had two printers at my disposal. A Canon Pixma MP270 inkjet and A Xerox from my work. Can't remember the type though. Seeing the results, I think any mid- or highrange inkjet will do just fine so no need to buy a US $ 12.000 Xerox ;-) Cheeeeeeeers, Jecepde

Hello mate! Great video here! If you don't mind, I have some questions since I'm a newbie in repro-boxes world and I would like to do my own stuff. Essentially: - Inkjet or laser printers? I have found some opinions online, but I can't find some real reasons to choose one or another. Or better, do you have some specific printer brands to suggest? - Which kind of paper do you use or reccomend? I'm interested more in doing repros of Game Boy/Color/Advance's games' boxes. Thank you in advance!
@jecepede
@jecepede 9 месяцев назад
Aloha ! Hmmm An inkjet or laser printer, that is an interesting question. I had the same when I started reproducing my boxes. I think it all boils down on availability and/or budget. For me, I already have an inkjet printer so I'll stick to that. The MarioKart was printed with an Inkjet and it is pretty good if I may say so. For me personally, I would recommend the thicker paper. The thicker the better (with the exception of the labels). It makes for really sturdy boxes and inlays. What also you also an do (not mentioned in the vid) is printing a 'cardboard pattern' on one side of the paper and the cover on the other side. It can give a slightly more authentic feeling to the inside of your box. Just look at the finished Blobette box. You can see it in the vid. Cheeeeeeeeeeers Jecepede
