I have seen many wondering in the comment whether only the layer of glue is enough to bind the notepad. Honestly, i love making stuff and i have made many notebooks and notepad, and trust me, this method works very well. You can use any type of glue from normal white once to even hot glue and it works well. Just remember to add a thick layer of glue when using something like white glue to make the bonding stronger
I actually made something like this with I didn't 'bind' it with any glue just something we called here in Philippines as 'rugby' it smells bad and not really good to inhale (because they uses it for binding rubber and woods specifically). The technique is to make the paper cut neatly on the side you are binding it and put on the glue one layer at a time and dry it overnight or a few days depending on how strong/effective the glue is.
You can get PVA glue from your local arts and crafts store, like Michaels or AC Moore, and the penknives are normally called by a brand name X-ACTO Knife. You can pick one up at a local arts and crafts store as well.
I just read some comments and they said kin is a copycat and everthing fell apart, well the fell apart thing must be true, but guys if you have anything bad to say, don't comment cause the ones that you have been commenting is a person, with feelings, moods, and emotions. And I Know Lily Zhen made this and I watched it but she just did the cover with acrylic paint and masking tape and glitter and glue on top like it serves as the mod podge so I don't think that kin is a copycat. I just turned 11 this December 13 but its Christmas season so yeah, please no fight. ~Nicole
for those with questions about the glue and it not sticking... i would suggest using more then one coat. You will need a flexible glue ... doesnt have to be pva, as long as it says flexible it will work. I would not use Mod Podge its to thin.
If you're trying to make a sketchbook I wouldn't suggest this method! It's gonna fall apart with time because it's just PVA glue. I made my own sketchbook by sawing :)
great idea, #KinCommunity loved this notepads sooooo much, i even started selling them on cheap prices in my monthly garage sales....For the pva glue, i got white glue and it worked perfectly
Looks awesome but do they really work like if you flip the cover will it stay or come off apart I don't want to east good products for something that won't work
It will stay, but you need to use pva glue, not school glue. And it's better to apply another coat after the first one dry, then you glue the othe piece of paper.
I've been saying I bet I could make one of these for a while, now I've seen this I guess I will.... anyway I love that you didn't fast forward the video. I mean they are tutorials!
Ty! I made mine but its not stick with glue, mom tells me to put it as a ribbon because if i FAILED opening it with glue it looks horrible. But its still nice though in ribbon
