Today is a rather exciting video for me because firstly it's for a good friend but it's also a nursery! I had a three day weekend to transform this room in Cassiee and Eldon's home (which is a rental) so we wanted to ensure the changes were temporary. We also started this makeover as a gender neutral space until the baby was born just before the last day!

I would say that could be added once the baby can crawl or walk. They might want to change the room around before then, so securing everything would be a pain at this time. But yes, a great suggestion just overall 😅

I love it! The only thing I'd change is the mobile. It's too high and doesn't have any movement. The best distance is from 8 to 12 inches away. This allows them to practice focusing their eyes. And at 3 months, they need movement to hone their visual tracking skills.

It can't be that low in a crib, that's a strangulation hazard. NOTHING should be in the crib. It should be moved above the diaper changing table.

@@CaliMel184False! Mobiles attach to the sides of the crib. And hang about 12 inches above the sides. Do you even know what a mobile is? lol It should definitely be lowered though as @AlexHunter5783 said. It’s so cute ☺️

@@CaliMel184 babies don't start reach until 4 months. I mistyped as I mean to say their focus is 8-12 inches. You want to hang the mobile 16 inches above the surface of the mattress is a perfectly fine distance for a mobile. Of course there needs to be adjustments for size of baby and it needs to be placed higher or moved as baby grows.

@@lonefox I mistyped as I mean to say their focus is 8-12 inches. You want to hang the lowest part of the mobile 16 inches above the surface of the mattress. Of course the height needs to be adjusted for the size of the baby and it's reach as well as the age of the baby. They don't begin reaching until around 4 months typically. Of course you always need to test items with your own baby, because as I said, a child's reach and development varies.

When you put up the curtains my first thought was the length was too long for a nursery. I can see those being accidentally pulled down by a crawling or newly toddling baby. They drape on the floor which doesn’t seem safe and although longer curtains may look great, window length just seems more practical for a child’s room.

Drew, You created the most tastefully done baby's room I have ever seen. Almost all of the "designer" created nurseries I have seen were cutsified to death. There were some exceptions. Among those, I think that yours is high class without the blatant high price tag.🤗💚

This was so simple , clean and elegant. I feel like there was a time when nursery were crazy colors and motifs that you would have to redo after a few years but the timeless color palette can grow with the baby.

Love the gender neutral concept, but babies REALLY need bold and saturated colors around them, they are like INTEGRAL to their development 😅. We adults love (and can tolerate) a muted neutral aesthetic (I'm partial to it myself) but babies REALLY, really need bright and bold colors for development

This is true! But I think as long as you have some other play area with colors for them to explore, a muted nursery is pretty functional. Especially for small rooms I think most people will just use them for sleep/wind down time. In that case it's good for the room to not be simulating!

They can buy bright toys! It's fine! Our kids bedroom is a light powder blue and there are not crazy colors in it. But she has plenty of other things that are bright.

I would have added a blackout window shade or blackout lining to the curtains. As it is now, it could be too light for a baby to sleep.

I wanted to see the Chevy sign lit. Was it a white light? Contrary to a previous comment, I think a neutral room is calming for sleep. Once my babies were up, they wanted to be where we were, so stimulation was found in the rest of the house.

Love all the attention to detail and the whimsical mobile! You did a great job! Not to be critical but the awesome matchstick wall art is hung a little too low, or rather it will need to be raised up higher when Chevy gets a little older and starts grabbing for things! Plus a baby boy’s pee pee will spray the picture, and everything on the dresser, and Mommy and Daddy if the parents don’t get his diaper on fast enough 😂 But the room is just lovely 🥰

Beautifully done! One thing I would eliminate is the beautiful ship art piece above the dressing table. Especially with baby boys accidents happen surprisingly often… Nothing behind the changing table maybe a lamp from above🤷‍♀️ the only thing I would add, is a glider rocker. I love the idea of “little Fox” line!❤

Drew, you’ve made at least another nursery that I can remember. And in this one you seem to have overlooked a place for mama to sit with her baby. The changing table decor is impractical as well. You prioritised form over function.

as a person that sews, I would like to give you one little piece of advice when you’re making curtains. actually, when you’re making anything that is heavier and you’re doing a hem. The fabric that goes through the machine to pass the presser-foot should be supported as if it hangs it will actually pull the fabric through faster because of the weight. For standard sewing, this is not a problem, but if you were doing something it was matching lines like, maybe a plaid, it might make a difference in skew the seam.

I am not up on the newer machines, from everything I’ve read a good standard Brother model won’t do you wrong. Personally, I use my older original “White Elna” which is an excellent machine and she is my best friend, lol. They are very hard to come by now, as the company went bankrupt a few years back, But if you ever find one, snaffle it up.

I keep all the Allen wrenches that come with stuff I put together. I have a drawer full of them. That turned out really cute. I’m glad the dogs like the rug. Then they can play with Chevy when he gets older.

Such a sweet transformation that shows how the little things can really make a rental place feel like home! I really love the way you styled the shelf :) Incorporating those natural wicker elements is super essential in building early curiosity for kiddos about texture and materials. I have a few tips for your next nursery makeover (as an infant & preschool teacher) that may be helpful! Pillows & blankets in cribs are great for styling but it is SUPER important that they are removed while the baby is sleeping as they can be a big suffocation hazard for infants not strong enough to roll or move their heads. So maybe adding a basket or bin for them when the crib is occupied would help?! Also, curtain length can be something to watch out for to ensure nobody is getting tangled up or yanking them off the wall with their fearsome baby grip. 😅 I love the ceramics on the dresser for aesthetics but would recommend going with baskets/wicker bins and potentially a wall-mounted lamp to avoid mid-frantic diaper change accidents. The ottoman looks super comfy and should be a fun piece to grow with as he learns to walk/climb (I also really want to know how cozy that rug is now - should be awesome sensory exploration). Great work for a very short turnaround!
