In the episode 4 of this series, I'm gonna show you HOW I've built the fridge slide I put on top of my drawer in the back of my SUBARU fORESTER !
Since I don't drive a massive 4wd rig, the fridge is not too high and I don't need one of these fancy drop down system.
The fridge sits perfectly on his base and don't move at all !
My INTERIOR STORAGE SETUP in not done yet and I have still plenty of work to do !
SO PLEASE STAY TUNED !

Use locking sliders, the type that lock when in and out.

@@ALNSMOVERLAND Also, these tend to fail under heavy loads (even though they are somewhat rated for that....) so you would be in the same boat!

Hey, great progress! BTW, do you have Turbo Forester or N/A? A couple of hints from my personal experience ... consider using rivets instead of bolt/nut combination. Nuts tend to loosen even under the smallest vibrations. A cheap rivet gun and nice aluminium rivets will hold forever, it's also a much faster than cutting bolts to size. If you really don't want to use rivets, you may use Loctite (thread locker glue) or nuts with teflon inserts. It still allows you to undo the nuts if you need to repair smth, but won't let them undo under vibrations. This will save you the nerves and hours on the long trips on unpaved roads. The fridge could become pretty heavy once you pack it with goodies (especially glass bottles if you hate plastic), much heavier than a bag with clothes, thus we tend to mount it lower, preferably on the floor. But should not be a big problem if you don't go to extremely remote areas. A nice thing I recently discovered is the aluminium brazing rods (HTS 2000 and plenty of alternatives). A fantastic way to make strong aluminium frames at home.

Or just use thread locker or nyloc nuts.

Nice!!! Maybe you shoud look for a small door lock or some like that...I really don't have much idea to lock.
@ALNSMOVERLAND
@ALNSMOVERLAND 5 лет назад
Thanks, I was thinking about that too!
@BellaAndBobby
@BellaAndBobby 4 года назад
How about using a locking tie down? You could bolt/loop/fabric grommet/or hook one end to the side rail and drill a hole in the other rail for the tie down hook, then simply pull it tight.
@ALNSMOVERLAND
@ALNSMOVERLAND 4 года назад
That is actually a very good idea ! Thanks for this, I will think about it 😉🙏

Hi Jorden, good job! I guess i do it similar. But first i have to rebuild my forester that i bought 5 weeks ago. It is in a really bad kondition. Much rust all over. I nearly weld 1 qm of metallchead in it. Aspecial in the back wheelhouses on both sides. In German we call it" der Todesgriff". I can reach from the outside of the wheelhouse into the inside! But i am on a good way. The right side is allready done. I am looking forward to drive it. Maybe in 3 weeks, i will see. P.s. try the same thinks for locking the slide out as you to for your platform in the last vid. Best wishes from your nighbourcountry.

Neat! I really like that you're pushing the limits of the fozzy. How does fare the mount endurance, will it withstand fully loaded fridge?
@ALNSMOVERLAND
@ALNSMOVERLAND 5 лет назад
The fridge, once slide out is actually way more sturdy and rigid than I thought! It's a small fridge so I'm not really worried about that 😉

Tu bosses vraiment proprement!
@ALNSMOVERLAND
@ALNSMOVERLAND 5 лет назад
Merci beaucoup !

How does the slide do with the fridge fully loaded? Does it slide well or seem to wanna bend at all?
@ALNSMOVERLAND
@ALNSMOVERLAND 4 года назад
That was one of my main concerns and it's very sturdy! The rails are rated for 45kg and that's more than the fridge (a small 28L one) even loaded. So no problem at all, slide well, doesn't move or bend... We usually leave the fridge slided out when we cook!
