In this pantry makeover diy video we show you step by step how we converted our standard wire shelving builder's grade pantry to an attractive, organized, solid wood pantry. We even give some tips and tricks so you don't make the mistakes I made. We use regular 1x2s, 1x3s, and 3/4" plywood and 1/4" plywood. We also bought pre-finished 1/2" thick drawer sides that we cut down to the dimensions we needed.

Does your pantry need a reorg? What other area needs some TLC?

WOW!!! Eddie Field!!! You have not only done a fabulous video - that makes it look so easy, look at all the details that you have added ... timelines, etc!! Really impressed with this channel. I can't understand why not many comments or likes - you should be receiving much, much more!! Have you considered putting yourself on instagram???

Thank you so much. This is a relatively young channel and most DIYers are searching for results. “How do I do this?” “How does this adhesive work?” They get their results and they are gone. I’m so glad you noticed the things that I would look for in DIY channels (short, to the point, step by step instructions, and chapters that take folks to exactly what folks are looking for). I’m thinking about adding 5 minutes of “Please subscribe to my channel” to each future video. Just kidding. Man, that burns me up! I greatly appreciate your encouragement.

@@FieldGuidetoDIY Oh yes - there is a secret that some of us use - the FAST FORWARD button if it is too much talk. I love all the little tips that are actually priceless when doing a DIY project and watching you do yours first. I tend to watch a lot of woodworking as I am a beginner and a very, very , very late beginner !! HA HA!! If I had my time again I would love to become a joiner!! I am a woman in Scotland hitting 60 in a couple of years and I started to look at things in my home and wished I could change things. "why does this open that way" or why can't it be this way". I see something and want to improve it but I take a while to work out what is actually wrong with it, or what I want done, and I cannot afford to get someone in to make all these adjustments. I have always owned power tools, but they were cheap and basic. Since buying good quality tools, I have realised how much easier it is to do things. I have projects all written down - like boxing in a boiler (that would be a furnace to you) boiler is much smaller than a mini dish-washer but one big ugly sight on your kitchen wall. It will fit inside a basic cabinet really. I have to be able to give access to an engineer every year for service and for repairs. (that is just an example of a project). There is a wall cabinet too close to the boiler to put another cabinet OVER the boiler so I am looking at putting on a case of a unit and making a sliding door. I am loving this feeling of DIY and actually accomplishing things. When the guys came around to refit my new kitchen they were really impressed with the things I had done in my home so far (and they are qualified joiners ) so I felt really good that I had done a decent job. (sorry this is turning into a book!!! I appreciate your channel - it is truly awesome and I cannot understand why I did not come across your channel before. I watch everything I can about DIY!!!!

Hello sir. I have a pantry like yours that need some filling on the sides. How are your filling holding? Are they still solid or have they become loose.
@FieldGuidetoDIY

Sad to say mine have loosened because I did not hit the studs. I’m afraid at some point I’m gonna have to remove the shelves and slides and re-anchor them.

Do you think toggle bolts would be a good option for anchoring these without studs?

I have a question Eddie... or a request if at all possible. I have watched YT for years now (and I do mean YEARS), love all the DIY channels, but one thing I cannot find (and I am sure lots of other people would really be interested in this too) no one appears to MAKE/CONSTRUCT/BUILD their own storage for the dead space in a kitchen. There are lots of videos out there where professionals will review 'lazy Susan' type pull out shelving, they will install it, but no one will actually MAKE their own. I cannot afford £160 for a pull out shelf that holds a couple of pans. TIMES 2, since I have two 'dead space' cupboards in my kitchen, and I hate wasting space, since I live in a small apartment. Can you suggest anything or construct anything?? or run some ideas for us in a video?? You will be the first to do so, if you can. Is it possible to put the initial part of the cabinet on runners - pull out shelf/drawer, then move the back of the cabinet (the dead space part) over on a separate shelf/drawer - so the first part comes out of the cabinet, but the last part comes into view, but remains in cabinet? I hope you can visualise this??? The runners for the back/side shelf is higher up than the front of the cabinet shelf, so when you pullout the front of the cabinet - there is no restriction to moving the back (dead space) shelf sideways. Many thanks.

Let me mull that over for a while. Even lazy susans have wasted space (round cylinder in a square cabinet. I understand what you mean about those pricey wire corner solutions. When I develop a solution, I’ll comment with the link here so you can look forward to that answer coming. I still owe some viewers how to modify the rev-a-shelf mixer lift to work in a cabinet w a drawer that was requested a while ago. Thanks so much for the suggestion. Please let me know if you have any more.

@@FieldGuidetoDIY Totally that one that is the shape of a figure 8 is the worst - that is why I said it was an expensive way to hold a few pans. (better to stop cooking and toss out the pans - save money)!!! The pull out version that is customised to replicate the shape of the cabinet is WORSE!! not only is it beyond ugly but it loses all the space at the sides. I have the basic idea in my head the front of the cabinet (not the dead space) can have runners on the base of the drawer to come right out - THEN- the back of the cabinet shelve - must be raised a couple of inches to clear the runners of the first drawer. Of course the drawers can be the WHOLE SIZE of the cabinet - minus that space for runners and to clear the runners. That means the drawer can actually be single or two tier on both the top and bottom of the cabinet - depending on what you want it for.

No way those slide brackets hold up, way to far from the wall
