DIY Pencil Pouch and Sunglass holder made from patterned felt and velcro. Any easy sewing craft to personalize your shoeboxes with fun and colorful pouches for your school supplies.
My goal is to encourage and inspire you to pack full, fun and personal shoeboxes by sharing what I pack in my shoeboxes, where I find good bargains and how I personalize my boxes with fun craft ideas. Great job! I make these too for my Pencil Granny packs! I have gotten the felt from Hobby Lobby and Michael’s on clearance! Great inexpensive pencil pouch! Thanks for sharing Tiffany!

Love both of these, Tiffany! I am not a big Hobby Lobby shopper, so I have never noticed the printed felt. It’s very cute. Now I know what to do with it if I ever see it there when the price is right. Thanks so much for sharing this easy and useful craft ❤

Nice! Thanks for sharing! I have always hesitated sewing velcro. I will have to try these! ☺️. I have a new sewing machine I haven't even used yet...😂

I considered using no sew fabric glue but I really wanted to make sure the Velcro would hold up to the opening and closing. I tried snaps as well, I have a TON of snaps, but they ultimately ended up pulling through the felt. :(😢

The felt is on clearance again right now and they have both this size and larger sheets, and also have some that have like a vinyl type of exterior (in the small sheets like you used here). I got several different types. I usually put a pencil sharpener and some small fun erasers in my pencil cases, and I wonder if you think they would fall out if I made it just like you have? I’m not a sewer but was hoping I could make these because I have found pencil pouches can be too expensive, or so cheap they’re not effective. Any suggestions for me on this? Like if I were to make the Velcro piece longer, do you think it would hold the little items in then, or make it too difficult to open? You’ve tried some different options so I am hoping you have some wisdom on the usability /can help me problem solve this!!😊Thank you so much!!

I have gone all the way across with the Velcro and it closes it completely. I also pack full pencil pouches with sharpeners, googling eye rings, pens, pencils, markers, erasers and scissors and they all held! Thank you for letting me know the felt is on sale again. I need more.

Yes, I have my phone on a tripod with a light ring. I’m frustrated with the light ring in my glasses though. I am still learning a LOT! I don’t want to spend tons of time of learning to video, I’d rather be crafting and packing. That is my grand kitty, Boots. My DIL is here until the Army gets her moved to their new duty station. I have house bunnies though and they are not happy with him. LOL 😂

Love your ideas! Questions: Did you use wool felt or polyester? What temp did you use on the iron?

Without Hobby Lobby not posting the fabric in the description I am going to venture to say it was an Acrylic. I was able to set my iron on cotton/blend setting and it didn’t ruin the color and kind of softened the print a little. It didn’t take much to press the seam.
