DIY Pet Bed - How to make a cozy bed for your cat

Hello creative people! Today I'm making this cozy stuffed bed for my two kitties. The finished size of the bed is 35x45x20 cm (14"x18x8"). Fits for a cat or small dog. You will need:
- about 50 cm of fabric and same amount of faux fur, plush or any soft fabric that your kitty likes;
- foam. I use furniture foam 1 cm thick;
- some pillow stuffing.
I hope I made this sewing tutorial easy to follow and I'll be happy if you will like this video.

I love how it's so easy to sew. My mom was a seamstress & she sewed most our dress (6 girls & 2 boys). I know how to sew & I'm trying to show my granddaughters how to sew as well. Your tutorial makes so easy for them & me. I'm a subscriber, so are my daughter's & granddaughters Thank you so much.

Cool now I know the basics of how to make a pet bed. I'm just gonna make a super simple easy one and then make covers for them so it's easier to wash. For my ferrets cage

Thanks for this tutorial! It's very clear and easy to follow. I made one for my cat last year and she loves it. We got another cat this year who also loves it and they both now try to squish together on it (I made it a bit smaller than the original instructions) so I'm rewatching this to make a second one. I am going to agree,that this was so unclear yes I did go back,again and again , and I be honest it would of been nice ,if it told you ,but really ,it needs words ,I have nearly finished the cat bed , which I am Glad ,as I was getting bored go back all the time ,i have just got to pin the sides on ,but that don't look right ,so back again to the video ,carnt wait now to be finished yours Debbie

Hi, it looks very easy to make, the only I am a bit confused with the panels I need to cut, you only showed 18x14 and 18 x 8 but it looks like that some panels are shorter or longer, Also you don't cut them right on the line you leave a seam allowance, so just curious. Thanks

Hi there, I guess you missed a little part in the video. You will need 1 piece 18x14 for the bottom, 2 pieces 18x8 and 2 pieces 14x8 for the sides (from each fabric). I used to make seam allowance always - it is how I learned to do many years ago so it is easier for me this way :-) But if you will not make them in this project it won't make a big difference - your bed will be a little smaller and that's it. You will also need pillow stuffing, it will make the bed more soft. If you don't have one you can use 2 layers of foam or sintepon instead :)

Hi! This is beautiful! I am going to make a few for my local shelter to sell for donations at an event they have…..could you please tell me what seam allowance you use? And I think I can figure out how to increase to make it larger for a dog…. But wondering if you happen to have made this larger and would have measurements? Thank you so much….this is amazing! ❤

Thank you so much! I'm sorry for the late reply - since the war begun in my country I have not very much time to work on my channel. If you need to make a bigger bed just make a circle of a size you need and use a formula: Circle diameter*3.14 - this will be the length of side panel of the bed :-)

My cat has been diagnosed with a dust mite allergy. I'm planning to make her a new pet bed from tightly woven cotton, with a removable fleece cover. Do you have any tips to keep in mind?

I would suggest to use some other material than fleece because fleece is very hard to clean from a pet fur.

I think so, but it depends on what fabric you will choose. I suggest you make a test couple of stitches on 4-5 layers of your fabric and see if your machine feels good 😀

I think it may not be very easy to make for a person who never tried to sew. But if you have at list some little experience you can make it, I'm sure 😊

This would actually make a great starter project I think. It's mostly straight lines after all. Maybe skip the topstitching at the very end if you are really have zero experience

Yes, I'm agree with you 🙂 The only thing that concerns me is that it may be a little difficult for a newbie to work with this piece because it will be hard to make the final top stitching. But you can just use a zigzag stitch to prevent the edges from fraying and there will be no need to do the top stitching.
