DIY plastering results and mist coating. I get the mist coat on the walls so you can see the results of the DIY plastering / skimming. I think the plastering turned out fantastic and there were only a few minor repairs with a bit of filler and sanding that I would need to do.

Skillbuilder is WELL worth watching if you have 5k to spend on a bathroom. Those products they use are fantastic but so expensive!

What should you do if you forget to apply a mist coat on dry plaster

I don't think there is anything you can do. It's the most important step before painting. If you've already painted the walls you'll just have to wait for the paint to peel off and then start again.

Where did you find the information to use a 70/30 ratio

It's more about preference really, some people say to use 50/50, Lots of people use different ratios.

@@LCWDIY In the video you said you used a trade paint but I was wondering if it was as it looked very watery on the wall.

@@hardworker8030 yes it was quite watery, it looks too watery and see through when you put it on but dries white. The trade paint I used was quite thin which is why I used 70/30 some trade paints are really thick, this is when you're probably use a 50/50 mix.

i think because is a bathroom before you apply your mist coat you should seal it with diluted pva to stop the paint peeling where the condensation then the mist coat to follow with a bathroom paint good work enjoyed the video.

I never use pva under paint. Water or moisture will reactivate the pva and make the paint come off. The top coats of paint are moisture resistant bathroom paint which should protect the wall.

@@LCWDIY Agreed. A non re-activatable sealer might be an idea if you're not sure of the paint however (see Skillbuilder's thing on rendering)

PVA isn't waterproof... sadly... Ask me how I learned this the hard way :\
