Well, that's cool. Are there any drawbacks that you have experienced besides the need to smooth out the minor scratches left behind by the wire and clay media inconsistencies? I'd like to do some slab work to make bonsai pots and I'm wondering if this is a cheap, quick, easy, and reliable method for making consistent thickness slabs. Thanks for sharing.

The marks could be made with a wood burner.

Ok that’s not a slab roller at all - you just do this as a normal process with nerikomi and can just make marks inn the clay and use a wire and not need a special set of sticks.

Using stacked battens, you mean? Or a batten on either side of the clay, then moving the top piece and cutting a new slab, etc., etc.? Or are you suggesting freehand wiring of slabs? Constructive criticism by demonstration is usually best.
