What could one do to use as an alternative to retail interfacing .?

Interfacing's purpose is to add stability and structure to fabric. You can use any lightweight cotton fabric as a substitute for interfacing for this project. Muslin, scrap cotton, etc. You would treat the outer fabric and the "interfacing" fabric as one layer.
