Very basic info... NEVER use nail polish - clear or otherwise - on polymer clay! It may look like a sealant, but over time it will react with the polymers in the clay and melt it.

I was just about to write that, when i started with polymer clay i used clear nail varnish and the stuff ends up breaking, better to use modpodge gloss

If anyone makes the earrings the clear polish isn't really good. It can become sticky over time. I suggest resin, uv resin or really just polish it, it will shine on its own. I know I'm no video making guru but I have used clay for well over 15 years and would just like to save people the heartache I have gone through by learning the hard way. Looooooove that incense burner idea btw. It's simply adorable.

Same here..I’ve worked with polymer clay for many, many years and clear nail polish will disintegrate over time. I have the cutest earrings that got so sticky, dirty and gross.

Yes, I was thinking the same thing about the nail polish. Also, if you bake them longer they will be stronger. I love marbling clay, the effects are so cool. I have to try making some bowls. Thanks for sharing. :o)

I was about to comment, too, about not using nail polish. If you buff the clay with brown paper bag paper it will get a nice gleam to it, not sharp and shiny like nail polish, but a nice gleamy glow. My favorite was the incense holder - so clever.

No no no no. Great tutorial until the clear nail polish. It become tacky and yellows overtime. Sculpty gloss really isnt that expensive or you could use some type of resin. But please dont use nail polish.

Whatever you do, please don't use nail polish of any kind. It turns clay tacky and even if you manage to get it to dry, it will turn yellow. You can find clay glaze in pretty much any craft store, so just get that instead of wasting your clay

DO NOT GLAZE THEM WITH NAILPOLISH. They will become yellow, trust me.

The designs are lovely, but I have to say, NEVER USE NAIL POLISH ON POLYMER CLAY. Or any varnish that contains lacquers. It will eventually react with the clay and cause it to become sticky and gross. The best glazes are water based wood varnish or UV resin.

consider varnishing with Varathane Gloss Floor Finish water based, crystal clear, high traffic formula or Liquitex matte

Craft stores usually have them. Saw them at Michaels. If there is no craft store around you, look up on Aliexpress for "letter stamps". Aliexpress is probably cheaper than most craft store. Michaels can be pretty expensive

I only used clear nail polish after i completely (and quite thickly) painted my objects with acrylic color. They‘ve been holding up very well for 3 years now. However, never use it on normal polymer clay, theres special type of gloss for it.

I love the ideas. One thing though, I didn’t think nail polish was any good for polymer clay as it reacts after a while and damages it.. there are clear varnishes especially for polymer clay that aren’t that expensive and do a better job

Cecilia Alvarez it all depends on what clay you use, check on the package of the certain brand you bought and it should say how many minutes and how high the temperature should be

Hi....I tried the incense stick holder.. came out well... but It left dark spots from the hot ashes falling from the sticks... Did you glaze it?

Ya, you should use a glaze: mate or glossy one. Whichever you prefer It protects it from the ashes, as well as it makes it easier to clean (under water, gently scrub it away)
