Hi friends! In this video I will show you how to make a rose from polymer clay. I like to use polymer clay to create miniature flowers so I can make the petals as thin as I want as soon as possible.
You can make a rose from any three shades of polymer clay. From the darkest color, make the middle of the rose, leave the lightest for the edges. I use baby powder to prevent the petals from sticking to the sicon mold and dots tool. I attach the lobes with a small drop of hot melt glue for polymer clay. Then I bake the rose and tint a little with eyeshadow and dry pastels. You can tint the rose with whatever you have: for example, blush, blue pastels or acrylic paint. Watch my new video tutorial on how to make a miniature polymer clay rose for your dollhouse or decoration. Happy viewing! Very beautiful. I have found that using cosmetics on polymer that after awhile it loses its color over the years and it’s best to use artists powders like chalk sticks and oil pastels. The oil pastels make polymer really pop . Oil pastel pots ., they are creamy and go on much more beautiful than chalk sticks. The pan pastel oil chalks last too. Cosmetics are made with all sorts of chemicals and oils and some don’t last on polymer over the years . All the ones I made a few years later the color is gone even after varnished. Just a friendly tip. Your work is fantasticly gorgeous though. Thank you for sharing.

I love your long and slow videos! I always manage to pick up extra bits and pieces from the process, a short video might not show, that I can incorporate in my own! Thank you so much!

You follow the specific baking instructions for the brand of polymer clay you've bought, and bake it in an oven.

Rina, You mentioned a silicone mold in your details. Are You using a silicone mold, or is that a glass block that You're working-on - freehand? ….I was thinking the latter. Thank-You; I swear I’m going to learn how to do this! (You're such a great Teacher!)

Rina is just using the back of a silicone mould as a working surface. Silicone - being slightly flexible - means she can create realistic _curved_ petals with her ball tool, at the same time as tapering the very edge of each petal so as it's gossamer-thin. She's so clever. 🤍

You said “hot melt glue” but it’s in a jar. I’m a little confused. But I want to make sure they stick. Could you share the brand of glue you used?

Hello!, i love your realistic rose work, please let me know which polymer clay do you use for this project?
@claudiahernandezcolomer7294
Did you manage to find what is it the best clay for this type of work?
@pearlwhitecrow8001
@pearlwhitecrow8001 Год назад
@@claudiahernandezcolomer7294 Kato transparent polymer clay and kato white polymer clay mixed together in varying quantities are best for this kind of work. Color with small amounts of professional quality chalk pastels.
@claudiahernandezcolomer7294
@@pearlwhitecrow8001 Thanks! 🥰

@@pearlwhitecrow8001 I absolutely love Kato clay for the precision you can create with caning, and Donna is a PC Goddess! I think I'd be tempted to opt for Cernit or Pardo for this kind of delicate work, though - if it's available where you live of course. 🤍

How is the durability of such piece? Does it crumble easily? I wanted to explore and put miniature flowers on a ring base with a circular tray, but i wonder if that should be covered with resin or not to make it more durable.
@221b-Maker-Street
@221b-Maker-Street 9 месяцев назад
No, it will not crumble if baked correctly. Something this delicate is never going to be _durable;_ it's intended for decorative use, not practical function. I'm not sure if you mean 'tray' as in serving tray, or a bezel for a ring as in piece of _jewellery?_ Yes, you _could_ dip-coat it in resin, but I think that would detract from the beautiful papery quality - the very thing that makes it so attractive in the first place - it would become a completely different piece of work. HTH.
