Always put the nut on the bolt then hammer it to the concrete that way you don't mess up the threads

Negative. Do not hammer. Your gun has hammer mode with no spin setting. Bolt has a dimple on threaded end. Set nut and use hammer gun to drive in bolt

Nicely done but I would love my patio cover to attract tightly to the house so when rain I walking out without getting wet
@Redblocksvideos
@Redblocksvideos 10 месяцев назад
There are two ways to have this done, one would be to see one side of the patio cover on top of the roof and the other will be called lean in patio cover. When it is lean into the house is attached to the side of your home and this way it will cover you from the rain or the sun.

@@RedblocksvideosI’m trying to build one, with permit. House already has a flat roof addition to the back. There’s a pergola at the moment nailed to the fascia, but it looks ghetto. Do you think it’s possible to build one a bit higher than a flat roof , so it over laps maybe a foot? Pitch the rain away. Thanks !!

Is there a slope on the roof? I didn't see one, if there is how did you make that heppen?
@Redblocksvideos
@Redblocksvideos 10 месяцев назад
That’s a great question. In my county the minimum slope that this construction built has to have is a quarter of an inch for every foot minimum , this cover has 3” slope because it is 16 feet long. i used a string line level for this.
@OneAcer
@OneAcer 9 месяцев назад
Great job! What height did you cut the posts at? Doing mine this weekend similar to yours, free-standing with the high side of the roof just above the house to keep the area under the patio cover dry. I like how this design maintains easy access to service the gutters.
@Redblocksvideos
@Redblocksvideos 9 месяцев назад
I don’t remember the height of the post, I honestly didn’t measure how high they were going to be. They are the same high as the roof, and from there I did a slope of a quarter of an inch for every foot with my string level. I left a link for the string level from Amazon. If you want to purchase it it’s about three dollars. The actual party cover was about 14 to 15 inches above the roof total counting beam, and the Raptors going across. Hopefully this makes sense.
@OneAcer
@OneAcer 8 месяцев назад
@@Redblocksvideos Oh yes this makes total sense, thank you! I installed the 3 posts near my house first to get the height of the beam on the posts correct then installed the remaining 3 posts and beam away from the house. I used your string level idea too, thanks. My rafter length is 12 feet, have not decided if I will slope to quarter of an inch or higher because I'm concerned of rain water not falling fast enough down the metal panels. Maybe I will go 3/8 of an inch and use galvanized roofing screws that have the rubber washer and caulk them all.

This one is interesting because you chose to separate the house from the patio. Was it just preference that you didn't adjoin the roof of the house with the patio? I mean you wouldn't be worried weather or not rain or high wind and rain could plummet in between the two? It's still a great job but gutsy, lol.

I actually like the idea of not disturbing the house roof, my house is only a year old so I’m weary about messing with a new roof. I did notice the rain gutter so that should help with most rain water coming through the separation. I’ve seen quite a few videos and after seeing this video I’m pretty much going through with this set up.

Does your patio cover stop even with gutters edge of the house or go over the gutter to edge of house? How far do you think you can over hang house without interfering with future roofing replacement?
@Redblocksvideos
@Redblocksvideos Месяц назад
this patio cover is high enough so it doesn’t interfere with the house roof and goes 2 feet past the gutters. I don’t remember the exact measurement, but I did make it where it’s not too high that when the wind blows it doesn’t bring the water with it.
