DIY Portable/Rechargeable DC Power Supply with Adjustable Voltage (3-28V) with 18650 batteries
Wanted to make one to use on the go or when my bench supply is hooked up to something else.
Min voltage: Battery voltage (3.0 - 4.2V)
Max voltage: 28V
Max current: 2 Amps
Capacity: About 4800 mAh (Depending on battery condition)
Bill of Materials
--------------------------------------
2x 18650 Batteries (wired in parallel)
1x TP4056 Li-Po charger with protection goo.gl/cx8V4Y
1x MT3608 Boost Converter goo.gl/a4xhgh
1x Mini LED Voltmeter goo.gl/KXRaKv
1x Switch
2x Alligator clips
3D printed parts are available on thingiverse: goo.gl/JP5WTG
Thanks for watching!

I saw something like this years ago but they used a small board with resistor array and dip switches to change the voltage and the whole thing ran off a 9v battery and it was portable enough to slip in a pocket so if you go to yard sales you can test electronic items to make sure they work before buying them.

Nice and simple and just what I was thinking of doing myself. Thank you for the confirmation. Also, I love the 3D printed wire jig and solder/brass wire sponge holder. I’m going to have to make some of those.

I would like to make a battery source for various cordless tools. Alligator clip or universal adapter to hook to where the battery pack hooks. A cord. Have it adjustable for whatever the tool is. A 20 volt dewalt drill. Just dial it to 20v and hook to where the battery contacts are. Construction laser? Just dial it to the needed volts and hook it up. Will this work for that? I may wanna use a lawn mower battery size.

Nice relaxing video. Question..is that minature switch safe for switching a 2A load ? They are only rated at 500mA. Have you tested the device upto 2A load without any heat and fire ?

They do get heated with high load

Congrats really awesome project, especially for the 3d part. It makes want to get a 3d printer

Thanks! It is a great tool and I think every maker should have one in their arsenal.

I can confirm that, having a 3d printer opens a world of new possibilities. If you're looking for a sign to buy one, this is it 🤣

That's cool.I want to make a 0 to 42 volts portable dc power supply.I have a EPSON printer power adapter 42v output.

If I switched the boost converter with a buck(step down) converter, could I make an adjustable power supply with output voltage lower than the battery? I’m trying to power things 1-3 volts (small leds etc)
@kyorgancioglu
@kyorgancioglu 5 лет назад
Of course, that would work just as fine. Or you can use a flyback converter which can step up and down voltage so you won't have any limitations at all.

Nice video,but where is the short circuit protection?After all you are dealing with li ion batteries at least use a 1A fuse or better a short circuit module,but for the little case that you are using,I suggest to use the 1A fuse!In rest,great video!!

Neat build A. Model it so the TP4056 module is enclosed, or inside front portion. B. What kind of current and how long do you expect it to run at high voltage levels Either way, pretty interesting design
@kyorgancioglu
@kyorgancioglu 6 лет назад
Thanks a lot. Enclosing TP4056 was in my initial plan. However, I wasn't able to come up with a simple way and I didn't want to complicate the design for now. But It will definitely be an improvement point for the next version. Runtime and max current will depend on battery characteristics so there is no correct answer. The MT3608 booster module is advertised as 2A max. At 28V that would draw 56W which is way too high for the cells that I'm using and DW01 protection circuit built in the TP4056 module will probably shut it down to protect the batteries. In theory, at 12V 1A load with standard 18650 batteries should last about 1,3h.

Kaan Yorgancıoğlu you can also conformal coat the board with clear nail polish (a few layers) instead of the clunky hot glue to protect it (it's what I do to all those cheapo garden lights I get...protects the boards from corrosion and shorting out...I have had one that has been running solid for over 2 years)

With no discharge protection for the 18650 batteries - its a disaster waiting to happen if used incorrectly.

Hala aktifmisiniz ? 2 lityum pil bulmanız gerek 18650 pil şarj devresi mt3608 yükseltici devre ve gösterge bunları aynı mazadan alırsanız 60tl filan gecmez ama ayrı ayrı alırsanız kargo fiyatida eklenir artar yani.
