Young woman, you have a fabulous talent, and I can see that you could take it a very long way in your lifetime. I've never been adept at sewing, despite having a mother who was most willing to (try) teach me---she had to give up, WE had to give it up!!--but I still enjoy watching others sew, and your creativity is most enjoyable!

I love this tutorial! Just what I had in mind for my prom dress! But I’m still a little bit confused about the waistband pieces in 11:11 as to where exactly they belong as it isn’t quite visible. Is possible to elaborate on that? If not, that’s totally fine as well! Love the video!
@fuccasu
@fuccasu 5 месяцев назад
I don’t know if it’s still relevant, but I’ll answer :,) I'm studying to be a fashion designer. This is called facing. You need to cut out the part, process its outer edge, then attach it to the cut. Next, stitch it, bend it and secure it. This way the seam is made inside and the edge is processed :з UPD: I wrote through a translator, sorry if there are mistakes
@haselnusschen25
@haselnusschen25 2 месяца назад
I know this is late but I struggled on this part too so might as well try to explain it for others. I’m not sure I got it right but what I did was follow her instructions on hemming the waistband piece and placing the side part ON THE SEAM behind the bodice where the side seam of the skirt starts (pin it down just like you did with the bodice to the skirt) an spin it down then just sew across the hem and then you can pull it down like she did (i hope this makes sense??)

Whenever I make pockets like to either sew it twice, or use the triple stitch to reinforce it. Be sure to finish all seams with an overlock, or zigzag stitch, especially the pockets.

Wow, you look like a mermaid in this! I'm usually not a fan of most typical prom dresses (hey look way too shiny and gaudy for my taste) and I also have a general dislike of spaghetti straps - but you somehow make both look absolutely gorgeous! I think it's the laced up and boned back that makes the whole thing come together for me, it's really cute. The back seam is a bit noticeable, it looks like you sewed a bit too quickly and bunched up the fabric, but that's a really small nitpick in the grand scheme of things - and I totally get it, slippery fabrics are the bane of my existence too.

Beautiful, I am a beginner and you made it look simple, I understood most of your direction, but there were a few parts I wish you would have explained in a little more detail for beginners. Thank you though very much because you made it look so simple which is very encouraging!!!!! Would you consider doing more step by step for beginners??? Although this was wonderful, I'm a little hesitant because being a beginner I'm afraid I would run into trouble and would hate to waste so much material.

I really love this dress, I am in the process of designing/ making a prom dress and this is such a beautiful tutorial!! i have some sequined lace that I plan on using as an overlay for my bodice, but I would prefer not to cut it along with my pattern pieces so that the pattern isn’t interrupted (and I don’t have to mess with plucking so many sequins along the seam line lol). how would you recommend going about attaching it? thank you so much for this video!!
@PaperStxrs

thank you! That's so exciting! how fun!! if your sequined fabric is stretchy enough you could maybe get away with not cutting out the individual pieces, and stretching one piece over the bodice after the lining is sewn together!✨
