This is a great video. If anyone wants a more in depth description of the practical uses of this kind of mechanism and others like it, look up "PUSH LATCH Mechanism" by This Old Tony. He goes into depth about this style of mechanism and a few others that are used in cabinets and whatnot. Also it could be a great video to get ideas on other designs that could potentiall by 3d printed.

How much do you think i could scale down your model? Great design btw

I haven't tried yet, but I think maybe 0.8 is OK, if you can find the fit screws and springs.

Excellent... suggestions.. the path up and down should be arcs insted of having corners (adds mechanical smoothness)....alsothe rest point "V" should be steeper on the in and out, but with the bottom slighlty offset so the unlatching movement remains correct (again for smoothness and durability as that flattened top of the exit area is stressing the Track pin ( pin moving in the path) more that necessarily.. just my observation of an all in all excellent mechanism and print

is there a way you could add a magnetic element for a stronger attraction if youre trying to use the mechanism between to metal faces
@coffreedom9247
@coffreedom9247 3 года назад
Maybe you can stick a magnet (3.5 mm) by instant glue.

You can remove the part that put the spring, and change it into gas spring.

Hello, thank you for this video, I think it will do perfectly for one of my projects. I see you put a raft on for grip, could you tell me what slicer you used to have a raft that comes off so well, maybe even the settings you use to make them, because I'm using PrusaSlicer and so far my rafts don't come off as well as yours and I can't find a good setting, so if you don't mind sharing your settings that would be great. Thanks
@coffreedom9247
@coffreedom9247 2 года назад
I use CURA's default raft setting and it works just fine for me.
@JoshuaRilliet
@JoshuaRilliet 2 года назад
@@coffreedom9247 Ok, I'll test the new version of Cura to see if I change my mind about this slicer, at worst I get the raft settings back 😉👍

Superb video. I have few questions 1) which software was used for design your plastic material. 2) which software used for simulation prior to 3d design of your model. 3) how to decide tolerance limits of product before printing.
@coffreedom9247
@coffreedom9247 3 года назад
1. I use fusion 360. 2. I didn't do the simulation. I just printed it out and test it. 3. For me is try and error. In my experience: loose fit (0.3 mm), tight fit (0.15 mm), moving part (0.5mm). Thanks for you support.

Great dear but i have Question , in your video the part call (Route ) is short but at the files you Uploaded is long and there are holes at ( Case ) File and your Video has Pins may be 5mm. can you Update the files ?

may I know the pros and cons of this mechanism?
@coffreedom9247
@coffreedom9247 Год назад
I think it's a good mechanism for applications like drawers. However, the pin connected to the route is the weakest part of the whole mechanism.

You can also build a very simple electronic circuit called JK flip flop, it does the same latching electronically and you may connect it to any electromechanical device to do very nice things. I have done hundreds of similar circuits and you too do the same by learning more about electronics: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-mdSR-LT12sk.html
