@@rochelgeller hi there, my waist measurement is 76cm...I then added 8cm (I added this when cutting but you can add it while doing your calculations) to make it 81cm or you can just take your waist measurement around your hip bone instead of your natural waist so that the waist of your skirt is big enough to allow for the elastic to stretch. Otherwise if you are planning to install a zipper there's no need to add extra cm for elastic allowance.
This is exactly what i have always wanted.... You are a nice teacher💞.... Please when you find time, make a video showng how to make a full dess explaining all calculations the way you did on this one, especially the Bodice🙏
Great tutorial- I know how to do full and half circle but 1/4 stumped me - I didn’t have enough width to make the half circle I wanted and needed to make two 1/4 my problem solved 😊 thank you 🌷
Thank you . I will try this. Even though i am total novice have no clue what i am doing. This is my 2nd week and amount of mistake i done. Try drafting and forgot seam allowance and cut out pattern. I have to learn about cutting fabric. Learn grain still confusing so i know which way to cut. Its alot my brain is fried But i hope to stick at it. Oh yeah the maths
This was a very straightforward tutorial. Thanks so much for it. What is you want to make a a longer skirt? it doesn;t look like you can make it longer because of the fabric length
Hi there, thank you for watching, you can make a pattern first so that you don't have to draft from the fabric. The pattern will allow you to use your fabric better. Here is how to make the pattern ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ERVhsDgHwEw.html
I loved your 1/2 circle tutorial, so I was glad to see this one too! Does it matter what corner you measure out the waist? I was thinking I could get more length using a different corner perhaps?
Hi there, thank you for watching. I doubt it matters which corner you use as long as the body of the skirt will fit. In one of my latest videos I show how to draft and cut circle skirt with the fabric that is not wide enough to give the length one is hoping for, you can check it out maybe it might help titled "DIY flare dress with pockets"
Hey there, thank you for watching, make an elastic waist band that fits the waist of the skirt ( you can make it extra then just cut the excess) but the elastic must be your actual waist.
Hey there, the width of the waist band must fit the elastic and the length must fit the waist of the skirt. Please check out this video to see how I made the waist band @ 6:06 ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MbXMx-YwhHU.htmlsi=GT-0dTbXhhmkiR3U
Hi there, it really depends on how you want umbhaco wakho to be if ufuna ubhaceke kakhulu you go for full circle but if you don't want too much flare you go for half. But I think abantu like the full skirt.
Hi there, as you can see after cutting out the skirt it was just one piece so I had to fold it in half and cut it to make the front and the back...the next step on the video I am closing the sides.
@@NomondeMketshane Thank You for answer, but still i don't understand. You sew sides again on same place as you cut, is it for visual effect only (that seams will be visible)?
@@agapod2922 A garment usually has seams on the sides and sometimes at the back if you are planning to install a back zipper...so the cut was to just have side seams. You can leave your skirt without or one side seam but it looks better and normal with side seams.
