Quick project/experiment to create a screen for home/hobby use.
This is quick, effective and cheap. If you had a slightly thicker 'curtain' material than I used then this would be incredibly good. You could probably make a decent front-projection in the same way.
Parts used:
1 x 'Frost' Shower Curtain
2 x 2mx32mm Push-Fit Waste Pipe
2 x 90deg 32mm push-fit corners
2 x t-piece 32mm push-fit joint
I considered using 40mm instead, for a larger screen that might be better, here 32mm is fine.
SORRY that the video is poor quality; marks on the camera, bad lighting and audio etc. I don't really plan to do these, I just make them while I'm doing things anyway :o)

Thank you so much for taking the trouble to make this excellent video. I am doing a stage play and we need a system to show images. This seems really effective,cheap and doable by non experts. I might even give you a credit in the programme! Thanks again

I wonder if you went frosted gray, it would have been better.

You can buy plastic frosting film on a roll (one metre width) that is designed to adhere to glass with water. But would be perfect in this application as it's thicker and not so flexible as a shower curtain.. It's quite cheap too, I bought a roll from Aldi for only a a few euros.

Hi can you tell me which fabric is best to use i tried a white shower curtain but on the fx scenes where there was no background the white from the projector made the curtain show i want it too show as little as possible, would grey material solve this, thanks, good video

Benq W1070. It's an OK full HD home projector, wide angle lens without being a short-throw, quiet enough. Does 3D very well with cheap active glasses. Quite a lot of light-leakage from the front and side vents which is a bit annoying, it also has a mild rainbow effect on the DLP, but if you can get it for a good price these are forgivable. Mine was ex-service and is a bit broken on some of the connectors - it's not tough enough for business use or regular moving about, but for home it's great.

I wonder if there is a way I could make my simulator back lit rather then having the projector at such a high angle.

This is exactly what I plan on doing at some point. If your software has a mirror function you can use this. I do recommend placing the screen as close to your wheel as possible. The few front projected simulators I’ve seen work best like that, but with rear projection ya don’t get the picture appear on your arms.

You may still need a high angle, but with the rear project you can angle the screen some to compensate and create a feel for more depth, if you feel up to it try curved screen, you’ll need special software to do that though I think
