Love this idea.😀 Being that my dog decided to tear open/apart every bed she’s ever had,I wanted an inexpensive preferably recycled option.. This is perfect! 🙂Thanks for sharing!
Thank you so much for this. I can't sew at all but wanted to make something - a bed and or blanket that I can donate to animal rescue groups. I cant wait to get started!
i was googling on how to make a dog bed, and your video popped up! thank you! this is a whole lot cheaper than paying for a small $20 dog bed. i cant wait to get started!!
this is exactly what i have been looking for! so easy and inexpensive. i am surprised though that no one has commented on your dog...she is so beautiful.
+Matt Valentine I was thinking the same thing because once the dogs or cats start laying on it the pillows will shift! That would be an uncomfortable bed to lay on if that happened!
Wonderful idea!!!Suggestion to cut the excess from only one side. You will a wider strip top and side and can make a no run neck scarf with the left over material.
thank you! this is great! im kinda in hard times now,and my whippet will not lay down on the floor(he's the king of the house ;) ) so im gonna try this make him a comfy soft bed.
Awesome idea!!! Here is an idea I put together in my mind after seeing your video and someone else's..use eggshell crate material as the cushioning instead of pillows, and instead of cutting the material in fringes (and having to tie it off) all the way around, simply use fabric glue to glue together 2 sides of it, and leave only ONE side free to cut and tie...makes it less time consuming to create and less time consuming to remove for washing!!! But, I wouldnt have had my idea without seeing yours first, so thank u!!
My ant got my dog a present and it was a dog bed. He's still a puppy though, so he chewed that to shreds. He's better about the chewing now, so this should be good! Thanks! You are so cool and deserve more dollowers! You just got one more
@freeangie11 You can spot clean the bed or you could untie one of the ends, remove the pillows and handwash the bed. If your ties are double knotted you could also untie one end and stick in the wash on gentle and just replace the pillows when the bed dries. I recommend air drying so that the bed doesn't shrink in the dryer. Hope these suggestions help!
thanks for the awesome dog bed idea. I have 2 rough collies male and female and they love being together. I wanted to get them a dog bed for christmas but there wasnt one big enough for the both of them to lay together. Because they both love to spread out taking up tons of room so i just layed a blanket on the floor for them but i wanted something more comfortable so im definetly gonna make this for my puppies:D have a great day:D
Great video! I like how you didn’t cut a square on the ends.. I see so many people saying to cut a square.. and I often wondered why? And what would happens if you didn’t.. your bed looks just like there’s... I can’t wait to try this!!
I love this idea, but I wonder if the pillows will shift out of place when you move it from place to place. I would probably tack down the pillows together.
This is a great idea. A dog might not tear/rip up this bed, because it will smell like you. You could also use a long piece of quilt batting to cover the tops of the pillows so that the animal doesn't lay directly on the seams.
I got the courage to try and make this for my puppy and for my first try I'm very pleased I wish it was like yours but j tried I will attempt to make another soon thanks so much for the upload
Thank you so much Tanya for making this video. You have helped me a lot! I plan on making a large pillow bed for my big dog, very soon. She is going to love it! :-) Sincerely, Mrs. Arrand
Brilliant! Very very creative! I am definitely doing this! The only thing I’m going to do differently is, I’m going to hot glue the sides of the pillows together. Cause my dog will definitely bunch them up into a mess! Lol thank you for this idea! Just brilliant!
Very nice! The ties are very pretty but it looks like a lot of work. I am just going to buy a 10 dollar fleece blanket that matches my living room and sew it. I'll stuff it with the sleeping bag my dog is already sleeping on. Just getting ideas. The dog beds are so expensive. A 40 dollar one falls apart. A good one costs 100 bucks or more.
thanks for the video, really cute idea, I think my dog and puppies would love the fleece, I don''t know if the puppy sharp nails would get stuck in the fleece, this is my first time with puppies. oh and love the teal, so pretty.
@@DIYwithTanya I think they would be fine as I noticed the little nails get stuck in towels, so I don't use them anymore I think fleece or a comforter works for now, I'll have to go to JoAnns to buy some fleece, yeah! I think that will work, thanks!! i have faux fur and they love sleeping on it, it's similar.
Great idea!!! I was desperately looking for a dog bed duvet that would be big/high enough and couldn't find anything online as high as I needed. I know what to do now.
Hi Cindy. I would spot clean small messes. For a deep clean untie one end, remove the pillows and then re-tie shut. Make sure the knots are tight or they can come undone. Gentle wash and air dry so that the material doesnt shrink. Hope this helps.
@@DIYwithTanya thanks for your response. That makes sense.yes and I think it's a good idea to wash the fabric before you even make the cover. Thanks again and best wishes.
I think it would be easier to use memory foam, just buy them extra large if need be (such as a queen) buy a few of them and then cut and layer for added fluff. Anytime I take the cover off of the $80 + dog beds I buy for my dogs so that I can wash them, I find it was simply a piece of memory foam with a cover. Nothing more. What's worse is it is only one layer of memory foam. You could do more if you wanted.
If we did the memory foam, we could cut a slit in the bottom of the cover and then put velcro there to close it back up, so we could take the cover off when we want to wash it because I'm not sure memory foam can be washed.
This is great, my Bear is getting bigger (6 months) I was just wandering how do you wash this? Maybe i should take out the pillows and wash them separately ?
You can spot clean the bed or you could untie one of the ends, remove the pillows and handwash the bed. Hey Tanya.. I'm gonna save some money due to this .. Thanks but I got a query. My Dalmatian sheds all round the year.. A flee would be tough to clean.. Any suggestion on alternative material I can use?
Thanks for sharing I’m going to make one for my dog I refuse to buy her another bed we just got a puppy and I got him a bed and she tries to lay in his so I know she wants her own wish me luck lol I’ll need it
Ron Hutchins younger dogs can be very destructive, like mine was. She's now 3 yrs old and has calmed down considerably. However, we also learned that some breeds like more socialization as well as activity and toys to play with (basically to keep them occupied and entertained). With our shepherd/husky mix, we had to learn that she waned to be with us always (it's her nature). Things got better real quick. Don't know what your situation is, but many dog owners need to know this. Good luck.
