The way you cut down your pieces mid-project, with reckless abandon, is an absolute goal of mine 😂 I’m so overly cautious with my own drafted work haha.
I really want to learn how to sew! I watch your videos even though I don't know how to follow the diy (hopefully I will sometime) hahaha but i love your videos so much and you inspire me a lot! also this dress turn out gorgeousss! 💛
Don't worry you're not the only one. I too wouldn't be able to follow this video until I learn to sew, but I watched it and all her other video's anyway 😜. Can you blame us? She is so frikin inspiring 😍.
I'm not used to this measure system, but I still watching and loving your videos. You're so pretty in general and explain everything in a easy away so we can understand. I love you and your work, hope for all the best for you!
Never too late to learn :) I started learning to sewing at age 26( i’m 30 now) . I had no sewing background. It was hard for me to read pattern when I first started learning sewing, but after watching many tutorials, “sew along with me” videos , it has very helped my learning process. Also another tip is to go to your wardrobe and turn your store bought garment inside out and see how those garment is finished in commercial way. Good luck .
I just ordered my first commercial pattern at 23! xD today I just finished my first ever piece that actually had lining, so it's going to be a fun learning curve to go through 😅 wish you the best of luck on your projects!
Patterns are kind of complicated when you start out but definitely lead to better, more professional finish. You would be surprised to know that patterns may be difficult for her as well if she is not used to using them. As someone who drafts pattern, I find all the lines of all the sizes make it complicated for me too.
@@jazmeen04 understandable! Every craft has many intricacies which require work to perfect! ^^ I did a mockup first with that pattern I bought, the very day after the night I got it. I was too excited to wait xD I tried to be extra careful, so I read the instructions properly first, then cut the pattern veeeery delicately, and transfered probably more marks than were necessary onto my fabric xD I even pressed all of my seams! It turned out better than expected, but I still forgot about things that WEREN'T in the instructions but I knew I should've done, like stay stitching ^^' it's a fun process though!
You are so creative, talented and excited with each new project that I love to watch your video's. I never thought of using sheets for anything other than my bed. And your strawberry top is adorable 😊
Why is this just my new favourite thing- I'm so bad at sewing (inherited my older sister's painfully faulty machine, even if I set it up perfectly I always end up with horrible double threads on the bottom-) but I just want to make all of these-
Try to take the lower bobbin area apart and remove all the fluff! Oil everywhere you can access and make sure you use a new needle and the correct tension!
if anyone is wanting to make this using a commercial pattern in their actual size, the mccalls 7974 dress pattern is basically the same as this! comes in sizes 6-22 (US 0-18) and its really easy to follow
Your videos are amazing! I love the clothes you make, they inspire me to try to sew new things (although I'm just a beginner) I'm Brazilian by the way, and your clear (and beatiful) accent helps me learning english :)
I always love your videos!! I can't wait for my sewing machine to be repaired, I have so many projects to botch and every single video of yours makes me add another one to the list :)
Your are such an inspirational figure for me. I love your style and I’m actually inspired by one of your dress making videos ( a prom dress with puff sleeves off shoulder style made of a blue floral bed sheet) I was wondering if you learn pattern making from school or if you have any good pattern making books / channels to recommend. Many thanks from Australia
Burnley & Trowbridge has very nice linen, for an average of $15 a yard and 60 inch wide weft, but I haven't seen any with patterns yet, besides checkers, plaids, and stripes.
This is super cute! I'd have to wear pants under it, though. I'd just feel too uncomfortable with it that short. Although, I could totally do around the knees. Regardless, super adorable!
I actually sleep with those sheets! I never use the top sheet so I might need to make something out of it now. I don't think I have enough for this dress though.
Love the dress but have you tried thrifting bed sheets? :) Its like the most common thing to find secondhand and a way to be effortlessly more sustainable :)
How did you learn to draft your own patterns? I have been frustrated with my own sewing efforts because of my lack of ability to draft patterns and adjust them.
Hi Ally ! I absolutely love your channel, thank you so much for all the tutorials ☺️ Quick question : when sewing the elastic band, do you need to change your needle to a specific one ? My machine/needle doesn’t seem to like sewing elastic, the stitches don’t stay :/ Thanks a lot !
