In this video I explain my research into the various gate opener companies and why I chose Ghost Controls. I also take you through a typical install, and do a review at the end. Also visit my site: blackforestsign...
Great video. Bought this system over a year ago and am just getting ready to install it. I do have to add some components for solar application as my system was only a direct wire. Looks to be time consuming but your video will definitely help. Nick in Arizona
Very good step by step instructions. You do things a little differently than I yet all roads lead to Rome. Thank you for taking the time to do this helpful video. E/.
From an old Vocational retired instructor from Florida..."You did an excellent job of everything!" Except for your wind problem. I saw your supervisor walking around inspecting the red bucket.
Nice job! I have been looking for an operator for a couple of years. Either they were cheaply built and had a very short warranty or they were pretty expensive for little features. This one will work! Thanks again!
Very nicely done video and informative. I ordered my dual gate system 2 days ago. My gate is 200' from the house, but I have a backhoe and have already run power out to the 6" x 6" steel posts.
Nice video - do you have a video of those metal post installation? I have the Ghost system and gates but can’t seem to find someone to put metal posts in for me.. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Ordered this. Ghost control gate opener. Total bs they don’t include battery box with the solar model. What do they think you are going to hook the solar panel you just bought. I bought the same one from Amazon for the last 300 and was the exact same thing if not better.
@@BlackForestDesigns thank you for the prompt response. I bought the pro dual opener from Ghost Controls a couple of years ago and still haven't installed it. Looking to install soon, so I've been rewatching videos on it. Thank you.
Awesome review and install tutorial. I will be receiving mine tommorow. We have a business on our property and am wondering .... Can I set business hours. For instance. From 8am to 5pm if someone runs over the sensor the gate will open.... And after 5pm you will need to have a code to enter? I plan on calling support about this but dint know if you had a quick answer for me. Thanks.
Not sure that will work. The sensor was designed for egress. A vehicle exiting causes the sensor to OPEN the gate from the interior. Maybe the party programming will work for you - but that is manual every day. Hope this helps!
I enjoyed the video of your gate openers and need to install this same configuration at my house. Please let me know the part number you ordered in order to get the battery box, driveway sensor, kepad and extra battery so I don't have to order them separately. Thanks,
The opener is ok according to my experience, I was installing a single arm one: a little bit slow, the remote is property protocol and I cannot program my RAM 1500 to open it.
good job,, its been a few years now is there any way to make a update on how well it still working after a few years, any problems you ran across or back downs of system ,,
Is that an Aleko Venice gate? That looks eerily similar to the gate I bought. Yes, the entire gate was built with metric, but some fool (badly) attempted to do metric to SAE conversions. Now that it has been a year later, how has the system behaved?
If you can help me out here. I'm looking to install one also and is there a battery box for both sides of gate, or just one battery box with solar panel?
By chance are those bolts that didn't fit a 3/8 hole in the post metric? Goddamn things need a 27/64 bit. Shop I'm at has vending machines full of these things but it drives me crazy they won't just use SAE across the board for this kind of stuff. It doesn't have to be within thousandths of an inch because it isn't holding up a skyscraper so any whatever grade 8 is more than enough, just don't mix the zinc plated with aluminum. Great content, more information than I can absorb. So refreshing to see long single cuts instead of a mess of editing, I feel like I learn so much more when the human aspect of a task isn't edited out.
Dawn 'wood' 😏 ... Just shot her shot ladies and gents! .. but ol' James though... Looks to be that he denied her advance. For whatever reason that may have been (married etc etc). But Dawn did indeed...... Shoot a discrete shot and landing herself a man, Such as handy dandy James here!! 🤣😂
People bad mouth Mighty Mule I instal and use Mighty Mule and Ghost I've been using a Mighty Mule 660 for 10 Years and no trouble. I run10 watts of solar on a deep cycle battery and its fine. All shaft openers have problems with ice on the shaft which can bind the opener it is easily fixed with a plastic sleeve over the shaft and some cooking spray in cold weather. Most people who have problems like gates that open by themselves were just to lazy to change the dip switch code in the opener and remote. Which is now digital so no more problems with that! Unless YOU instal it wrong! Both brands are very good it depends on the application and what you want it to do.
I priced out Mighty Mule. Similar equipment would have cost 30% more. And Ghost has a lifetime warranty on the motor and gears. I think it is a superior product. Thanks for watching.
Outstanding! The solar panels only get direct sun for about 4 hours a day, and it's never run out of power. We've been through a week of winter without sun, and it still cycled. A remote stopped working and we got a free replacement in 2 days. Highly recommend this company! (and no - I don't work for them - LOL) Thanks for watching!
As far as security. Say some idiot wants to mess with me and unless I have a camera pointed at the gate.. some fool can ram my gate. How strong is the holding of the gate once closed? Does it have strength without any latching when closed? If not I suppose you could add one more device such as an electronic solenoid to pop in the middle, top and bottom of the gates as they meet together to lock them into place but just curious how strong those motors are at holding from someone with just human strength running up to the gate and trying to push through or a vehicle. More than just a visual barrier is there actual strength to the barrier.
I would guess that two people pushing would not be able to open it. As for a vehicle? I've no way of knowing. Would probable open fairly easily. There is an electronic latch that I elected not to use. I was trying to keep my dog in rather than keep out a boogyman.
Some things may have changed since I did my research, but there were reviews that claimed the the gates opened or closed randomly. Also- their warranties were not as good, and they were way more expensive. Thanks for watching!
I have ghost controls here in Florida. We had terrible service with them (still have the product since we already paid for it all), they won't come out to fix anything after a couple months of having it. And the company's technical support online is utterly GARBAGE. I have to call and wait for representatives that barely know what they are doing, and even if they have a clue, it's not like they are there and able to actually figure out what is going on. After all of this, I am making my own for any other gates I want automatically opened.
