considering Canada is in lockdown again, it's amazing how you guys manage to keep this channel alive with projects that you can do from home. Well done
I did this to my fridge in my rental and I covered the entire fridge. I used a palm leaf pattern, just green and white. My landlord loves it and took pics for future marketing of the apt haha.
If someone is doing a backsplash in a rental, there’s another way that’s a little more work, but that makes it very reversible and you can use it with real tile or peel and stick anything. You use plywood as a backing between the counter and and cabinets, and you can tile right onto it. It will protect the wall behind it and you can pull the whole thing down a lot faster when you move out. But cutting plywood to the exact right shape may take a jigsaw and someone who knows how to use it!
@@themusicalboy26 if you cut it exactly big enough, you could just squeeze it in and it would hold up on its own - but that needs skill or at least a lot of patience
@@themusicalboy26 you can hold in place with high stregnth magnets. Glue to the board then command strip the matching magnet to the wall. Know from experience at my grandmot this works. She has a board thats been held in place for so long we forgot it wasnt actually nailed in place.
I did a white hexagon peel and stick backsplash to break up all of the BROWN in my apartment and added matte black pulls on the cabinets to replace the silver ones. My goodness 😍 it makes such a big impact and I’m obsessed
Denise S &@@karenjp5848 Exactly! She changed the countertop, sink, and faucet, which I'm sure she will be leaving! She had permission to do that, of course. :)
I have really “heavy” looking traditional finishings in my condo (eg dark cherry wood cupboards and floors and blah beige countertops) and I’d love a vid on how to make to make this type of dated home look more airy and contemporary ❤️
I love your videos, there's just one thing: You keep on mentioning Amazon, although they are not by far a fair, sustainable, worker-friendly company. I try really hard not to order there, although it's so convenient, but I manage to find other amazing offers (for example knobs) elsewhere, that are also not too expensive. I think that everybody is aware of Amazon and I would love it if other, fair alternatives would gain more reach and mentions instead of them.
I think she also mentions Amazon because as an international viewer it's often the only place I can order from. When she's talking about other places I can't order them at all
@@alexianedidrick251 I see the point, yet I wonder if this justifies mentioning them. For me, the goal is to avoid them completely (or at least reduce ordering there a lot) and there are other worldwide platforms such as Etsy that could be mentioned or you could also just encourage people to do a bit of research before they consume (online and offline). This would probably take a bit more time, especially in the beginning, but right now I think this is the only way we can teach ourselves to buy in a less exploiting way.
@@lofi2836 many etsy sellers don't ship worldwide unfortunately. I agree that we should strive to find something else but for now this is the most accessible option to most of her audience
@@alexianedidrick251 But »something else« could be doing a bit of research and finding better alternatives on your own, e. g. going on Etsy and searching for »black knobs« that get shipped to your country. Not too hard in my opinion. And I would love it if influencers would encourage their audience to find other solutions than Amazon etc. or give them tips on how to shop in a responsible way or AT LEAST not mention those sites in their videos that get millions of views.
I had to put my fridge in the living room and used a huge sticker meant for a door in a design that looks like a bookshelf. It helps to not make it the first thing you look at and blends in very well with the rest of my furniture.
@@megsmileyface6202 I don't know how to attach photos here but I found a link to a sticker that is specifically for a fridge and looks like a bookshelf www.amazon.de/dp/B07KT7KMTV/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_XH4X6TW726FP200QVR8Q Seems like I wasn't the only one with this idea 😜😁
I switched the knobs in my rental kitchen and no I love it so much more, I also did the vinyl peel and stick wallpaper on one wall in my kitchen! It was so easy! It looks great! Thanks for all the tips! They made my rental feel like a home!
Something I thought of to ad to your "peel off the peel and stick tile from drywall and patch if it pulls off the paint" is, depending on your relationship with landlord, asking if you can leave them. I've upgraded 8-10 rentals through my life and in my experience landlords love the changes and are happy to have them.
As a landlord myself I would def ask you to keep everything as is! I wouldn't wanna deal with the wall behind the pink peel and stick it looks cleaner with the peel and stick. Especially because it all goes well together the wood counter, pink accent with bronze copper faucet and brass handles 👌
I would never in a million years have thought of wallpapering my fridge. But I have to admit that looks amazing! I love Hello Fresh. The recipes are great and easy to do. It’s been a lifesaver during lockdown.
I’m planing to stick some chalkboard contact paper on part of my fridge door for writing grocery lists and weekly menus. I figure it will look more artsy and less chaotic than the two cheap old whiteboards I currently have doing the job.
I loved the intro with Lottie! One day... yes, one day, I will get a peel and stick backsplash! You made a good point with the “non-match” peel and stick wallpaper being no fuss at the seams! Loved the pattern, I feel that it it would make a great inspiration for colors for a room. Navy, white and light pink... yummy! 😉👍⭐️
I really expected to hate the idea of wall papering a refrigerator, but you made it work! Looks great! The fact that it is easily reversible is key. As for putting the polaroids back on top of the wall paper, I say no, it’s too busy.
I wish I had control of the spaces in “my” home. When I married my husband, I moved into his home. I have made some changes, but not many. The style is his.
That sounds like something you need to discuss clearly as a couple. Even if it was "his" house before you got married, it's both of yours now and you should both see your personalities and preferences reflected in the space. Not a total remodel, but working room to room to make updates that combine your design styles. You could start by deciding on a color palette you both enjoy and have that be the throughline for each room. Best of luck! 😊
If peel and stick isn't for you, then cutting paper to size then using heavy duty magnets could work. If you don't have large pieces of paper, you could cut pieces of wood then back them with the magnets, using them to frame all the smaller pieces of paper. If that's too much work, then just those inexpensive peel and stick stickers could also be an option to jazz up your fridge. You also don't need to purchase a new door handle. You could find a nature stick, and that is some great incentive to get outside for a bit and safely explore nature too.
I've wanted to update my fridge for a while now. And to be honest it'll be a while yet before that happens! Very good to know just doing the front looks good. Bring on the touch of kitch.
awesome tips. I love how you explained about displaying food in glass jars. I have a couple on display and I never touch the food in those either. They look good though.
Thanks for sharing this, I did my refrigerator in black and silver it looks great 👍 and now it blends in great with my counter tops I’m so happy and some of my visitors and family thought I brought a new refrigerator.
you might have told people to wash and degrease the fridge before doing this or else its gonna peel especially if you only wrap it by a couple centemeters
I love the tips I'm not a renter but if you can't Reno your kitchen these tips still work. I am in love with your counter tops and all the details .Any budget tips for Reno-ing a dated kitchen?
I’ve always thought toilets are super boring. The only way I know to change them is with ceramic paint. Landlords probably won’t let renters do that though. Maybe just an exciting toilet seat/lid? I like my bathroom to be like a nightclub. Renters can definitely add lighting and speakers for sound. Another cool addition is an immersion water heater so you can keep your bath water warm. Yes, there are special heaters for this purpose. Best to have a tub that does it of course, but assuming your rental doesn’t come with a heated tub, at least this way you can soak longer.
How has the butcher block held up? We actually own a brand new condo (well, it's two years old) but unfortunately the counter is in a colour I despise and it honestly looks super chintzy.
Love the idea of wallpapering the fridge! They are such dominant ,and often ugly, appliances in the kitchen space! Also, why have a never thought to put a mat by the sink? I always spray water everywhere! Great tips xxx
Hi Alexandra, did you do a video about undoing your previous apartment before moving? Im looking for a video showing the removal of smart tiles? Do you have one? How did that go?
Hello Fresh food is amazingly good. Fresh food, clear instructions. Quick and easy for those among us who are not cooks (like me). Save the recipe card so you can duplicate the meal. Yeah you have to shop for yourself but the recipes are so good that the meals are worth duplicating.
