Hey roof doc, we have 61,000 sf 24 guage standing seam roof (25 yo). One area of about 1000sf had steam dumping on it for a few years and is rusting (not rotted out - just rusty over about 60% of the surface. What's the best method to extend the life of this area?

@@FlatRoofDoctor figured that part out due to your location and our environment...here arizona southwest and our roof systems especially if one builds it oneself are usually inadequate to begin with...so its my problem...small areas but problematic usually only when it rains...on a lighter note did note the special things to look for that you pointed out in previous videos...they helped as i prepped and patched pre coat...so manythxs for what you have already shared...one vid may be on just your portable tool box and its contents..jhow its organized would be a great share...plus perhaps a vid of the mjaterials that you recommend for hlong term hi end fixing and in contrast a cheaper but effective show or list of cheaper materials that are effective...it would be important when one goes to home depot to buy them..home depot all we got here...great and important shares for all us roof owners..manythxs
Hi Roof Doc, I have a new construction flat roof with railings installed at the time of building. The railings do not go out to the edges where the parapet walls are. I want to move the railings to the edges, but I’m concerned about disturbing a brand new waterproofing. Should I be concerned? Is there a good way to approach this? This parapet walls are capped with aluminum coverings, and I don’t know if the waterproofing goes up and over the ledge. Thank you for your great videos! Subbed.
Itis easy to patch any hole. So, no worries removing the railing posts. Also, when you install the posts on top of the parapet wall over the aluminum cap, then use Turbo Poly Seal to do the flashing around them.
@@FlatRoofDoctor thank you so much for your reply. I’m glad to hear that you think a patch will not compromise the roof. I’m only concerned now about voiding the builder warranty. Anyway very helpful! Appreciate it!
hey doctor, got a question. Torch down isn't allowed in NYC for mod bitumens. Is cold adhesion or peel and stick just as effective? through cold adhesion, can you recommend the coating that should be used so that I can tell my roofer to get that specific one? thank you.
It is just as good. I used it many times on the Brownstone Buildings in Brooklyn. Most of the roofs are slanted.Allthough not permitted, I have used Torch on many occations
@@FlatRoofDoctor dear sir you may wish to inquire with youtube why comments cannot be posted on some of your video share..just saw How to remove water from flat roof sep 2015 and wished to say manythxs learned alot and will continue from your shares
Not sure what to do.. on a double wide over the 36" entry door 🚪 is a pudding. Have an free standing awning. Why is there a 15 " by 15" puddle on my metal roof. 3 roofing contractors say nothing wrong..
