Another huge THANK YOU! TravelPro was great about sending the new handle, but, like everyone has commented, zero instructions and zero video. I got as far as removing all the screws, but then I was lost. You were a lifesaver!!!
Thank you. I just fixed my larger suitcase because of your video. Not exactly the same, but close enough. You empowered me and dang it! I did it myself!!! I, too, got a free replacement from Travelpro. No instructions. Was about to drive an hour and a half to drop my bag off at an authorized repair shop. It was going to be $75 PLUS whatever it would be to ship it back to me. (I wasn’t going to drive into Newton, MA twice.) You saved me a good chunk of change and taught me that I CAN do new things! Thank you.
Thanks so much! FA here, and travelpro sent a replacement handle for my snapped in half one, and said they had a diy video, and they do not, so yours was a lifesaver!!
Thanks so much for this! It's exactly what I needed to figure out how to get the handle out of my wife's suitcase. I was able to fix it and save the money we would've spent on a repair or a new suitcase.
Thank you! Aligning the new handle took a little extra help from the spouse, but it was worth it as TravelPro sent me the replacement handle for free. Appreciate your video so much.
Thanks a bunch! Simce I'm just a traveler TravelPro did replace the part for free. TravelPro may be a little slow to respond but they ship fast! Definitely an annoying repair with aligning the telescoping tubes and the screw holes, but your vid was a great help!
This was so helpful! TravelPro sent me a replacement handle for free. Of course, no instructions included. Getting those little “nipples” to align is a real challenge and I still think 2 of them may or may not be attached but at least my luggage is functioning for my trip tomorrow!!❤
All this works IF the shaft is not 'bent or damaged' due to other heavier luggages thrown onto back area where rods sit. If bent, there is no fixing. I have tried and if shaft is bent or dented, time to change. Cheaper bags doesn't come with any 'harder protector plate' as shield from falling weight on the shafts.
Thanks for giving me hope! my Travel PRO handle just broke and I have another trip to fly tomorrow....! just bought a super cheap bag until I can get this fixed !
Thank you so much. I have a different brand suitcase but now I understand the basics of what I need to do. your explanation was very very good. Thank you again!
Thanks for putting this up! My handle snapped off so they just sent me a whole new retractable assembly free of charge. No instructions included 😕. I did need a rubber mallet to beat the new part into place so the screw holes lined up though. 🙂
Thank you for the help. My bag was slightly different. But the idea is all the same. I ended up only replacing the telescoping parts. Once you have the top apart that is easy too.
Great details, but you can repair easily by adding a little lubricant to the knobs that are spring loaded. But the details on how to get to them that you provided made it easy. This worked for me.
One of the worst companies to deal with. You call their "Customer Service" number and it tells you to visit them on line. Great customer service. I'll never give Travelpro one more penny.
Knowing that people were figuring out how to take handles apart and fix broken parts inside, the baggage companies have all started manufacturing un-serviceable handles. Anything newer you have to order the whole handle. No way in to the handle anymore.
No luck here. I've had the bag for four years and they don't have replacement hardware. Took them 3 weeks to reply because their customer service is rubbish. Buying another brand this time.
That's interesting since as little as 4 months ago (check comments) people were reporting TravelPro mailing them the parts for a charge, or even for free when under warranty.
