I think if you use wooden Kabobs to put holes into the small part of the two bottom prongs, you can put the kabobs back into that part AFTER YOU have it set up. This will keep the phone from slipping off.

Couldn’t agree with you more about your suggestions!!! I have made a couple of these and they have all turned out great! I was looking for coloring ideas when I came across your video, and now I’m sending it to a bunch in my resin group who have been hating on this mold! This is exactly what I’ve been trying to tell them!!! Wonderful job on this piece and I’m totally stealing your color pallet!! 😉

Hi all. I think it is important to note that not all epoxies are made for casting. Some are considered artist resins. I use CCDIY medium viscosity for my tumblers, and they have a different formula for casting into molds. Perhaps this is part of the struggle, as well as colorant ratio. As a general rule, your colorant or glitter volume should be less than 10% of the total epoxy volume. Good luck! I have this mold but have yet to make a stand. Going to give it a try soon!

To get it right this mold needs poured in thin layers. Most epoxy is not made for 1/4 " pours. Thus the need for pouring in layers. Doing it this way it cures harder. Plus the fact the heat from the cellphones softens the epoxy.

I wonder if they bend for some because the back of phones get hot with long use which will soften reactivate the resin and make it soften a bit. Just a thought. Maybe for those that sell it they should recommend not for long use
@ColorMePorcha
@ColorMePorcha 3 года назад
Hmmmm, something to think about🤔 But another commentor did recommend using a 2:1 resin mix for best results.

So another commenter suggested using a different type of resin, like a 2:1 or 3:1 ratio. I tried a 3:1 and it worked too.

Could you confirm the hardness and resistance or tell me how thick your standphone is, I am trying to make some to sell while I take care of my baby, and I have made two, very nice but after a while the weight of the cell phone tilts the longest part a little , I bought a cheaper mold for Amazon that came two, maybe it is the mold, could you help me, please with the thickness of your stand or if some mass has happened, how did you solve it? thank you ... by the way you have good taste, your stand was very nice
@ColorMePorcha
@ColorMePorcha 3 года назад
Thanks Geraldine, best wishes in your business! My stand is approximately a quarter of an inch thick and it's solid. But what I've learned is that it's best to use a 2:1 resin as opposed to the 1:1... shout out to debrajo l for the tip!

Gotta use casting resin. 1 to 1 resins or Art resins are too bendy. Casting resin are 2 to 1 and cures rock hard . My favorite is at The Epoxy Resin Store - Clear Cast 7050. Hope you buy some because it works beautifully and rock solid 👌
@debrajol3585
@debrajol3585 3 года назад
@@tamarahindelang9048 if you can get it back into the mold and add a thin layer of casting resin it will stiffen it up. See my comment above on my favorite brand 😁 I’ve made about 25 or more phone stands and casting resin is a must for me. I also let them lay flat for a 2nd day to finish curing 👌

That's no good, I wonder if we're using different brands, the walls on my mold are pretty thick. My daughter is using the stand everyday, so it's holding up. I'm working on a second one for myself so I'll update you. Here's the link to the one I'm using: www.amazon.com/dp/B08L4RB2TT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_fabc_GDZ7P3N6PREWR8FNP1SV?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1

There are 2 different mold for this stand the one on this video is the more thick but the other one is pretty tiny, but on my experience at the beginning they not stand well just turn to the back but I notice after give more time they work good and not turn to the back, before give it more time I tried to put small piece of the stick wood inside but what happen if I want to do one clear, so on that point I decide to give at least the whole week and it did it so good, I tried give another layer after to try make it mor thick but I will say the tip is give long time, so after 24 hr I take it out and put it in some flat surface for 4 or 5 more days, and can use the mold again till this happen. Sorry for my English
