PARTS LIST: drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-1vLqKzM7kNyOGcARpD7auLeSWACVNvH?usp=sharing Lamp assembly with 1/2" threaded pipe (x1) www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-7-Watt-550-Lumen-LED-Landscape-Light-Live-Voltage-Bronze-LSPM-7W01/304063093 Bulb - not needed if included with Lamp Assembly (x1) 1/2" Elbow, 45° (x7) 1/2" Elbow, 90° (x7) 1/2" Close Nipple (x5) 1/2" x 1.5" Nipple (x1) 1/2" x 2" Nipple (x2) 1/2" x 2.5" Nipple (x2) 1/2" x 4" Nipple (x5) 1/2" Tee Fitting (x1) 1/2" Cross Fitting (x1) Electrical cable and plug Heat Shrink Tubing Power switch Matte-Finish, Clear-Coat Rust-Oleum (spray paint)
Built it, came out really good and liked the look of the raw iron so after putting the body together ( without head and wiring ) I used super clean degreaser and water to clean off all oil, and used a heat gun to dry- while still warm sprayed with Rust-Oelum Clear gloss spray and use heat gun lightly in between coats to help dry, used about 3 coats, thought it looked great without any paint, even the light head looked good without being painted, had kind of a gray powder-coat--one thing I did wrong was not using thread locker ( LockTite ) when assembling, thought Gorilla Glue on threads would work, and did but not good enough, made it for my Grandson had him help and he loved it, now may make another for me !
@@terryvargas3123 - Yes. I already have the item in the parts list, but I'll place it here as well. Keep in mind that you can use ANY lamp that has a 1/2" pipe-thread. Here's the lamp info again: Lamp assembly with 1/2" threaded pipe (x1) www.homedepot.com/p/Commercial-Electric-7-Watt-550-Lumen-LED-Landscape-Light-Live-Voltage-Bronze-LSPM-7W01/304063093
Mark, thanks so much for getting back to me. Now I won't wander around Home Depot like a lost idiot. My Grandson is gonna love this. He appreciates the novelty handmade things I whip up. Your a life saver.
But this lamp is a work of art!!!! Wonderful!!! I like it a lot, so I think that when I have some time I will make one for myself (with your permission). Thank you very much Tood!!!! Saludos desde Barcelona!!! 😀😀
Very kind - but you do not need my permission! If you buy the right pipes; or use glue instead of welding, then you can skip the Acid bath (although cleaning off oils with Acetone is still recommended). You could even use Grey plastic pipe if you wanted to. ;-)
I have made a lamp with a straight bulb, a ball bulb, a pressure gauge and a fire sprinkler (large size) for better visual impact. Oh and with a ball valve to turn on the lights.
Just screenshot the picture, take it to the Home Depot or local hardware store, show the plumbing guy in the department and they should be able to tell you what you need. Same with the lamp and the switch.
I ended up purchasing some components that were galvanized. Since I wanted to spot-weld them once they were in position I used acid to remove the galvanization. You're not supposed to breath in the zinc fumes. If you are using glue you can skip the acid bath.
I don't weld, what type of glue do you recommend? I also don't have a drill press so will need to problem solve the cord issue...can probably ask a friend to do this part of it.
I would think that any typical two-part epoxy glue would work. Just remember to clean all grease and oils off the threads; use the glue sparingly so you don't have a lot of mess to clean up; and remember to clean up the glue that gets squished out from the threads IMMEDIATELY and completely, because it will be much more difficult to clean once the glue has cured. With regards to the hole for the cable, if you have a hand-held electric drill, a good selection of drill bits, and a vise or clamp, you might still be able to make the hole yourself. Be sure that the hole has sharp edges removed so it doesn't cut into the wire, and remember to glue the wire in place as well so it doesn't move. Good luck!

Great job. I was trying to watch this video on a tablet so I didn't get to see how the lamp connected to body. Or what to use to do so. Where did you get your lamp head? And what's it called? Thanks Christy Farr
@@markheiliger9825 - Thanks for helping out Christy. For some reason I stopped getting notification emails from RU-vid when viewers left me a comment. :-(
Do you have a PDF copy of the lamp diagram (seen on your table as you build the lamp)? I can't open the link you attached as I don't have iCloud Drive.
hello could you send me the measurements of all the accessories it took, how many elbows, how many barrels how many double screws and the name of that lamp thanks

The share folder only works if you have an apple laptop or cell. Is there another way to download it? Can you use a generic cloud so we can just download it. Apply wants you to "log in" which I don't use apple so I can't log in. Thanks!
LMAO at the little kid at the end of your video shorting out that plug-in!!! Sounds like you and I have the same problem-"Instant Gratification". I want stuff yesterday! And like you I probabaly pay to much in my rush to get all the little goodies. Anyway, Thank You Sir for sharing your expertise on this video. I do indeed want to build one of these "Robots" even though I could probabaly buy one cheaper. Where's the fun in that?! Now I do have a question. First, I don't have a welder so I will likely resort to epoxy ot JB Weld to lock the pieces together. If I acetone the pieces will that be enough prep to get them to take a coat or two of paint? I would really like to avoid the acid treatment. Its currently 9* outside here in Central Illinois and even the garage is almost to cold to work in. Lastly, I try to be a real safety nut. I was very impressed watching you use goggles and a face shield both. I lost sight in my left eye so I tend to go to the extremes to protect my other peeper. I don't hesitate to call someone out in these video's if I think they are doing something dangerous. You went above and beyond! Thank you once again for sharing !!! Off to Home Depot!!! To you people asking for a parts list, do as I did. Pause the video and snapshot the parts list. You can either print it out or as I did, sent it to my email. I have the pictures on my phone, easy peasy!
Hi John, If you are gluing the parts you don't have to worry about zinc gasses like I did - so you don't have to worry about the Acid. Acetone should remove all oils and prep it well enough for painting (I've had good luck with Brake cleaner spray as well). Thanks for the comment regarding the screen-shot method for the parts list. Although the TEXT version of the parts list has been pinned to the top of the comments from day 1, I was unable to add the drawing image. For those you want to take a screen-shot - jump to time mark 0:50. Lastly: PPE FOR THE WIN! ;-)
@@ToddMcMahon I finished mine a couple days ago! I have to put in a plug for Menards, my local one had all the pieces I needed including the light . My light isn’t as cool as your “hooded” version but it still looks pretty cool with a Edison style lightbulb. My “Bot” looks kind of lonely on the shelf so I may have to make a girl version. I will try to send you pic’’s when I get her done. It will be a while, winter has been brutal here. Thanks for adding the diagram. I followed your directions to the letter and my guy came out perfect! Thank you once again for sharing your time and knowledge! It was a blast to make!
@John Hi John, I'm looking forward to seeing your lamp(s). FYI - I wasn't able to post any images directly into the comments section, but another viewer reminded me that "iCloud" was a thing - and I was finally able to post a LINK to that part's list drawing. EDIT: The iCloud link eventually died, so I reposted the files to Google Drive. Here is an UPDATED link to the drawing. drive.google.com/drive/folders/1-1vLqKzM7kNyOGcARpD7auLeSWACVNvH?usp=sharing
Prices vary greatly based on where you live, and where you shop for the parts, as well as what materials you purchase. While I built this primarily out of black steel gas pipe, you may want to use Schedule 40 PVC. I suggest you shop for the parts on the internet, to get a ball-park price, and then if you are still interested, go to a couple hardware stores to see if you can find better prices. I spent more time shopping than I did building it.
I simply grabbed an LED replacement spotlight head with a 1/2" thread. I didn't pay a lot of attention to it unfortunately. If you can find and share a link, I can try to confirm.
So the parts list isn't pinned anywhere that I can find, just all the comments and your answers. Sadly i I do not have icloud - android user here.... I took a screenshot, but would also like to know the names and lengths. If it's not possible to list no biggie. :) Thank you for the video!!
@@ToddMcMahon OK...so, I am always on a PC, so I looked everywhere and I could not find it then I finally used "sort by" to show comments in newest comments first format, then scrolled aaaaallllll the way to the bottom, as that would be the first comment, and sure enough...there it was!! Thank so much!!!! :) :)
