I needed to run some irrigation pipe so I made this trenching disc attachment for my rototiller. I used the center of an old 14" or 15" GM rim with teeth made from 1/4" flat stock. This may be best suited for sandy soil away from large trees as roots and rocks may make the tiller kick and possibly shear the 5/16" bolt. Might be an option to add a couple of slightly longer straight teeth to sever small roots. Some tiller guards were removed for easier viewing. Anyone digging should have all underground utilities located in advance.

Great idea, most of my trenching doesn't need to be any deeper than this. Gotta go build me one, bye-bye!!!!

Hi! One of the best DIY trenchers I have seen! Just out of curiosity, what's the angle and width of the welded pieces and the width of the trench?

Thanks! The "teeth" are about 1.75" wide, Angle is maybe 15-20 degrees. Trench is probably 1.75" which worked for the 1" plastic pipe I was running. Probably could go slightly wider if needed.

Cool. What if you extended the axle beyond the housing of the tiller and made a simple fender over that?

Good thought! That may allow a for larger wheel and a bit more depth.

Not even deep enough for a phone line, let alone a cable run, electric run, or such. Good thought, but not really that practical. I'm in the process of building a stump grinder and think that extended nosecould be rigged to dig deeper trenches.

I agree- wires need to be much deeper. This worked for my sprinkler/irrigation lines. Bet the stump grinder would work well.
