DIY Shop Vac to a Carpet Extractor (Full Set Up)
In this video I assembled a budget carpet extractor. Why spend money on expensive extractors when you can DIY a similar expensive carpet extractor. This DIY extractor kit can be used to replace any other extractor for a good and quality carpet extraction and make your detailing process faster. Carpet extractions can be tedious and leave behind a lot of moisture but not this DIY extractor set. This is a full set up tutorial and can help in you Detailing business.
P.S: I updated some of the fittings and hose to make the set up lighter and efficient.

wrap teflon tape the same direction you will be turning the bolt (clockwise). This way it will get snugged even tighter into place. Going the other way leads to crimping, bunching and eventually, leaks.

For home use, the Bissell costs less than the extractor head alone, so I do my first cleaning pass with the Bissel and then use a $10 clear extrator head on a shop vac for the final drying passes. A second vacuum to empty but allows me to use hot water without a hose running into the house bathroom/kitchen. Not as much water flow as from the air hose but appears sufficient from the large number of people who use it. Plus for small jobs and hard to reasch places the Bissell is small and easier than setting up the air/water hose.

Yes Bissell is a very versatile machine. For home usage it’s perfect but for auto detail it lacks in power and size.

Question for y'all. When I do interior details, I'm doing the same process as described in the video. I'll use P&S's 1 or 2 step method depending on how dirty, use a drill brush, then the same steamer, followed by using the same bisol spot clean pet pro extractor. I'm feeling no matter how much I go over the seats, I still feel an oily/chemical residue. Any advice fellas?

Very useful info, i keep seeing an ad for this type of setup with a shop vac and didnt understand how the water would work

Thank you! I hope I was able to help you understand more clearly how this system works.

Cool video! Thanks! I’m probably going to try this. I recently bought a Bissell little Green Pro, and while it’s easy to use and kind of works, it doesn’t work great. I started thinking a wet dry shop vac with some kind of attachment is really what I need and , thank the internet, you already figured it out!!! ❤

Happy to hear that this video helped you out. I am going to add new upgraded fittings so it can make it easier to use and light weight. I will update all the links in the description.

Since you have a Bissell, just buy a $10 clear extractor for a shop vac to do a drying extraction after doing a hot water extraction with the Bissell. (The extractors with water spray valves are expensive for home use.)

Great video! I've looked at Rip Clean's kit and I'm sure this is less expensive.

This is cheaper but my main goal was to go for the Mytee extractor head. It’s very sturdy and quality built.

@@esadetailsso I took your advice, and just got all the parts in. It sure hurt to spend $124 on that Mytee head 😂
@esadetails
@esadetails 8 месяцев назад
@@SinCityDetail Yes, I know it's expensive but very well worth it. It's built quality is awesome. Let me know how it works for you. I need to get a longer hose for the vacuum. I will add that pretty soon.

Maybe you could give me some advice. When I do interior, I use P&S's 1-2 step method where I spray it the seat, use a drill brush, then I use the same steamer you use, followed by the bisol spotclean pro. But even after doing multiple passes with the bisol, I still feel a lot of chemical/oilyness. Do you think converting your shop vac was really helpful with that problem?
@esadetails
@esadetails 13 дней назад
The suction power on Bissell is low compared to the Shop Vac. I think Bissell is 1.5 or 2 HP and the shop Vac is Peak 5 HP. So the suction power is more in a shop vac and yes it definitely helps with removing the chemical or the fabric shampoo. I would suggest you dilute the product and do more passes if you're using Bissell. Or you can use other product from Chemical Guys or 3D car care.

I would recommend people use an inline extractor head. This sprays the water only where you are about to vac and not all around the head and onto other things. It also has the water hose right in the vac line so there is no need for velco straps.

I’m not sure about that. Never dealt with that stuff. Shop vac does pretty good. Make sure to use vet and dry one.

you nailed the waterline 1000% if you ever get acess to a hotwater spigot..USE IT the ryobi drill brush NAILED IT.. try using the rigid 16 gallon nxt.THE best results

In order to introduce heat in the fabric I use the steamer after the drill brush and results are even better.

The hose you show here in the video is not the same hose Amazon has its difrent
@esadetails

Yes the hose I used here is given by rigid vacuum cleaner. I am looking for a new one. I think it’s by centex which is equivalent to the mytee hose.
