Great instructional video, I saved for future reference if I ever decide to do this. I think I will use longer screws, possibly even use stainless lag bolts, instead of what is provided. Looks to me like the screws provided are just long enough to carry the weight, with the spacer, though only time will tell if that is enough. Thanks for sharing!
A couple things after watching this video. Great explanation but it appears the bottom louver doesn't close the entire way. I would want this to keep small animals out for a floor to ceiling install. But more importantly, the connector bracket install would be impossible if a 1x6 framing is used unless you don't center the louvers in the frame. The louvers wouldn't stick out past the frame when opened to get a screw in. I prefer to center the louvers on the 1x6 so they set back in from the frame when opened.
Thanks for this video! Does the wind open them up? Hoping for wind/ snow protection along with privacy. I also have 6x6 posts. Why does the manufacturer recommend riveting additional pieces?
Is that cedar? Dimensions of your deck boards? I know 81 1/2" long but how wide are they? Im trying to see how many boards i need for (2) 5'wide × 8' tall sections and how many hardware sets ill need. Plz respond
Deck boards come in several different sizes, normal deck boards used are usually 5 1/2 inches wide, and looks like what he used in the video. The same size I would use.
I have an HOA in my town home. I want to do this vertically, but make them close flush to look like a privacy fence from the outside when closed. Template will be good but will need to figure out closing system.
Do you know what Kind of Metal the brackets are? Do you have Problems with Rust? Same with the delivered screws? I think they will not be stainless Steel Right?
Can this system be used also as a roof? meaning if I want to build an enclosure to get privacy and shade but something I can control the amount of light at any given moment?
