So many negative people in this comment section. This seems like a much more approachable way to approach screen printing compared to the emulsion method
why u see comments as negative...remember for everything is a ying and yang...no all of us can agree in everything or like everything if so the world will be so boring....u like pink i like white and so on.. respect other people's opinions as u will like to people respect your point of view...
He's so cute. I have no idea what he was talking about LOL. I couldn't take my eyes off his arms, his hair and his handsome voice. He has really nice eyes too.
Thanks Steven, love your ideas, I feel less intimidated by the process after seeing you work here. much freer forms than messing with all the registration corners!
Perfect just what I needed, you have a very calming presence and made it look fun and relaxing encouraging me to give it a try. Loved the results btw, cheers.
I've just stumbled across this eloquent , articulate . and so clearly spoken Steven Sabados :-) take a bow my good dude , you delivered the concise content I needed , and spared us all a lecture on branding. wish I could buy ya a beer, I'm going through a long playlist of diy screen making , and I'm leabingtowards the laser print method with a & b paper.
While living quarantine.... I'm so glad I've found this video! I loved every single moment of it - I truly enjoy all the information that you shared during the steps! It was the FIRST video that I didn't fast forward!!! ✨🍃💚 You're so talented and I love your personality. P.S: I struggle on meditations as well...And that's okay!!! 😌☝🏼
To solve your problem of only being able to set it down once: add strips of 1/8" soft rubber to the frame; it will raise the screen slightly off your work (the screen has enough flex) and the rubber will aid it not to move.
Thank you so much for sharing this video. It is great to see another creative way to approach the process. Please disregard the negative comments some people have posted on here. It is great of you to take the time to share. You have inspired others to try something new. And to be less intimidated by the screenprinting process. Kudos for spreading positivity in a sometimes very negative world.🙂👍💕
Thank you so much! This looks so achieveable compared to looking at the sensitizer route. This may sound a silly question, but would it work on tshirts?
I really want to start my own business online by doing all kinds of painting especially the pop art with retro paint. But I gotta save some money if Im going to invest in my business. This video is really going to help in the near future for screen printing.
You can use canvas frames and fabric from Jo Anna and staple it together so that could cost $20 screen filler or Mod Podge is about $8 then marker and paint cost. Pretty cheep.
This is great - many thanks! As a beginner, looking to start some basic screen printing, this has been very helpful. I've read through most comments and I couldn't find the type of paper you use - is it especially for screen printing? If i tried this with a canvas would I end up with a grainy/dotted finish? Thanks again 👍
She means something you add to acrylic paint to change the properties of it (matte medium, gel medium, sculpting medium). They make a specific screen printing medium but it costs as much as any silkscreen ink.
I would attach the roll of paper at the end of the table, just like in the doctor's office. .i also added an edge on the table so the frame has something to rest against
I took a screen printing class for fun in college. This is soo not the process I learned. Seems much simpler. We did use acrylic paint back then, too. It makes me feel so old to realize how long ago that actually was.
sadly no not unless you clean out a section of the design. there is a blue fluid called drawing fluid that is supposed to be used before the screen filler.
The ink is acrylic based, so it usually takes a very short time to dry, just a few minutes. You can see it's dry because the surface texture changes (it becomes more matte and loses the wet shine).
It depends on how thick it ends up going on and the material you are applying it to, but usually only a few minutes. I had a thick shirt take about 10 minutes a few times but most only take maybe 5.
Zach T you could use a closet as a dark room and u dont need a suction exposure unit, u could use a 500 watt lamp ($15) and a piece of glass to keep contact ($20)
Just for you info, the screen are not silk anymore and haven't been for years. The materials used for the screens are polyester. So this is a screen printing process, not silk. but anyway have fun.
Synthetic mesh is most common but he easily could have stretched his own with actual silk. The term silk screen has risen above material and into process but if you want to be technical it is serigraphy.
Please note that using this screen filler method as shown, you will not get as clean of a print as if you were to use the corresponding speedball drawing fluid to paint the positive area, then coat over the entire screen with screen filler in a single stroke. I have done this method shown and the amount of micro pinholes is absurd.
