Thanks so much! This was our first try at video editing and afterwards we realized the music was way too loud. Here's a link to the new version where you can clearly hear what is being said if you are interested ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l9fcEl-ncCQ.html
Thank you so much!! Hunter installed electronics/solar/batteries and all that professionally for years so the experience really translated well to our bus!
Absolutely awesome! You guys did an awesome job. I was in School Transportation for 36 years before I retired. I loved watching what all you did to the bus. Will be watching your videos.
I love seeing the transformations but I think I'd love it even more if I was you and had been in busses often. It's crazy how they can be transformed in such different ways. Congratulations on retiring! Thank you so so much and thank you for watching!!
Wow! This is such a great build. I am constantly reminded that Skoolie builds are going through an evolution, but this is one of the best. It appears that you take great pride in doing good work and keeping your home in tip-top shape. Lucky dogs! Enjoy your journey!
Electrical system/layout is awesome. 1400 watts is the way to go. Love that back porch too. I want to do that but make the center lift out so I can get to the garage easier and load/unload stuff faster. You guys knocked this build out of the park.
Thanks so much!! Luckily Hunter worked on electrical/solar as his profession prior to the build so the experience really came in handy for the bus! That sounds like a great idea for your back bumper extension/porch! Good luck and thanks for checking out our video!
I would love to hear more about your dog's food! I plan on homecooking my dogs meals when I get on the road and have yet to see another skoolie family doing so and was curious what you feed.
This is what we use southern-bytes.com/how-to-make-easy-homemade-dog-food/ We rotate the meat with each batch from ground beef to ground turkey to ground chicken. It has worked out well but are currently looking into anything vitamins/minerals we should be adding to it.
Thanks so much for subscribing!! I believe you were 1001! And thank you! Yes the amount of solar is amazing. It's almost double what we had on top of our camper so we're loving it!
I love your build. It's so inviting and comfortable looking. I have one subjection though, it was hard to understand you both with the music. If you lower it, then it would be great!
Our next video will be coming out tomorrow, and we definitely changed the audio volume to not overpower the voices. For this one feel free to turn on Closed Captioning if a few parts are hard to hear. Thank you for helping us improve our videos!
Thanks to the helpful feedback we received, we just uploaded a new tour video with no audio/music issues! Please check it out! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-l9fcEl-ncCQ.html

Very cool bus… one thing.. where the solar brackets are against the black windows …if you paint them black just where the window is.. would blend in so much better!

We use it when we are not driving and it uses diesel directly from our fuel tank to heat the bus. If we need heat in the bus, we use the heat from the mini split when plugged in, and we use the diesel heater when we are off grid (which is usually the case). We used it when the evenings in CO got below freezing and it worked very well. It doesn't have the cute ambiance that our cubic mini wood stove had in our camper, but it heats the bus MUCH better.
@@OutsideAndOffgrid Excellent! The mini split is better at cooling, thus you mounted it high. Amazed at the "yacht-like quality" of your systems, their "invisible" wiring/plumbing, and finishes.
Thanks for the tour. The audio was difficult though. A Lapel mike and lowering the music relative to the voice audio would make your voices much easier to listen to.

Wow! I’m just finding y’all as you get started! What a beautiful build! Love the babies! I think the mini split is a really good choice. This is the most gorgeous design and build I have ever seen! I love all the space. What do y’all do on the road?
Thank you so much for the compliments! Especially for the fur babies 🐕🦺🐕🦺! We are loving the mini split as well as all the other decisions/changes based on what we had in our camper. Since we sold everything we are taking some time to just enjoy traveling and not work. But soon we will be applying for jobs. I was a teacher so I will apply to teach fully online, and Hunter did electronics/solar/batteries and all that professionally so we are throwing around the idea of him doing that for other people on their builds. We are also hoping if we keep working on RU-vid videos that we can eventually get some income that way.
Thank you! Yes we have heard that from a few people and will definitely keep it in mind when making future videos. We appreciate the feedback! People may have to turn on closed captioning for this video but it won't be a issue in the future now that we know!
@@OutsideAndOffgrid - I had a hard time with it, too, and finally had to stop the video. I took a look at your next video and must say that the background music was just right. Thank you!

Love it but was a bit hard to hear you talk over the audio. Would you mind uploading as unlisted with the music lower or removed? I'd love to get some ideas and inspiration for our build. Great work!
Thanks for the feedback, it'll help with our next video! All the taillights and turn signals are off of Amazon. The headlights are JW Speaker 8910 headlights.

Your bus build is very well planned and executed, very impressive. I am interested in maybe swapping out my Thetford flush toilet for the Seperette Dry toilet in my Roadtrek Zion van. Have you been pleased with it as compared to the traditional wet flush in your travel trailer? I enjoy your videos.
Nope, doesn't have to be your home state. Vermont is an easy state to register a bus as a motorhome in. Our home state in Maryland had lots of hoops to jump through. With Vermont you just have to send the bus info and a check. We found instructions this simple process on skoolie.net forums and it worked out perfectly.
First of all I love your beautiful pups and would love to hear about the homemade dog food. The inside is perfect...I love the indirect lighting and the air conditioning unit, it reminds me when I lived in Bahrain because that was the first time I had ever seen that type of unit. The bus is really long 36ft is that a typical school bus length also did you need a specific drivers license? Love all the storage, the wood is beautiful. This is by far my favorite skoolie home.
Thank you so much for the wonderful compliments about the bus and especially our fur babies! We really appreciate you taking the time to write something so kind. Yes 36ft is a normal school bus length, and in most states in the US you do not need a special driver's license to drive one.
Fantastic bus I would love to create my own. One little recommendation could you turn the background music down a little At times it was hard to hear what you were saying. Otherwise absolutely enjoyed your video love it so much.
Thank you so much! And yes thank you for the recommendation, a few people have said the same and we will definitely keep it in mind when making our next video to avoid that issue again!

Thanks so much! Our total was 60K. We will be putting out a cost break down video soon showing what was spent where , and areas that others could save $.

Wow, such a beautifully well done conversion! You guys have worked so hard and it has definitely payed off. My word, this is so impressive, every single detail. Amazing! Please don’t take this the wrong way, but the pop -ups on the left towards the end of your videos are very large and obstruct the video a great deal and I have accidentally clicked on them a quite a few times before getting to finish the videos. I don’t know if you care about likes, but this problem will certainly affect that because I think most people likely wait towards the end to like videos. I’m really not trying to criticize, but it’s frustrating.

Super build. Kudos. I'm just getting started on my build and I can see that from the choices you've made concerning your build, we obviously think alike. Would you mind telling me what brand and model your 12 volt fridge is? Also, I'd love to know if you installed the mini split yourselves.
Here's the link for the fridge. It looks like it's on sale now, a few hundred dollars off. I'd jump on that, we paid full price for ours. www.wayinterglobal.com/products/12-7-cubic-foot-12-volt-refrigerator?_pos=1&_sid=527ff547b&_ss=r Yes we did the mini split install ourselves, we plan on coming out with a how to video for that in the next couple weeks. We plan on making and uploading it in November.
Nice conversion. Love the wood work and your dogs. What kind are they? Looking forward to following you on your journey. Wondering if you would consider lowering the background music? A little difficult to hear you. Thanks for sharing with us.
Our next video will be coming out tomorrow, and we definitely changed the audio volume to not overpower the voices. For this one feel free to turn on Closed Captioning if a few parts are hard to hear. Thank you for helping us improve our videos! Our dogs are rescues and our bigger one is a German Shepherd/ Dutch Shepherd mix. Our smaller one is a German Shepherd/ Catahoula Leopard Dog mix. Thank you so very much for the kind compliments!!!

southern-bytes.com/how-to-make-easy-homemade-dog-food/ Above is the recipe we use. We rotate the meat from ground chicken to ground beef to ground turkey with each batch. Our dogs love it WAY more than the different kibble brands we tried before hand. We are doing some research now to see what/if we should be adding any supplements to the recipe.
We got the JW Speaker 8910 Headlights. They are pricey. But when you use them every single day and night like we do, it's worth it. The light output is 100% perfect. And we love the heat option also!!!
@@OutsideAndOffgrid such a small world!!! And such an awesome build... Always wanted to do the same with a flat nose bus or a cab over semi and extend the cab deleting the fifth wheel and now wanna go on with the project even more now....
We spent 60k total. There are definitely plenty of areas where cost can be brought down lower when doing a bus build, but we decided we would put everything we wanted into it since it would be our full time home. The initial cost of the bus itself was $2500. We plan on making a video breaking down the cost and what it was spent on like building materials (built during peak lumber prices), electronics, and big ticket items the bus needed like new tires and lights. (Replacing the tires cost us more than buying the bus did!).
Love the build. I just started my skoolie this month. I live on the eastern shore of Maryland and going to go the Vermont way for registration. I have a 2007 Thomas pusher, I was wandering any tricks on the Vermont registration and where did you get your bus/rv insurance? I currently have RV insurance with Geico on my Fifth wheel RV, but they said they don't cover bus conversions. Thanks in advance.
Congratulations fellow Marylander, that is so exciting! You'll be happy to go with Vermont. So easy. Here is a link for the instructions we followed on an old Skoolie thread for Vermont registration and it worked perfectly for us. www.skoolie.net/forums/f18/how-to-immediately-register-your-bus-as-an-rv-without-conversion-15292.html We are struggling a bit with insurance. We currently only have liability only because that's all anyone wants to give out. Many people who have full coverage on their busses are grandfathered in but the insurance companies don't want to do full coverage anymore unless it is a "professionally done build" by a company that specifically does Skoolies. Hunter was on the phone with all the big insurance companies last week and got this same answer from each one. But state farm did say that they MIGHT be able to do full coverage, no guarantee, and we are waiting to hear back from them with more info. So that may be your best bet to call your local state farm and ask. If we are able to find a way we will most likely make a video for it explaining what we did.
@@sklsout We have it from Good Sam. It was the least expensive we could find for liability only (a little over $400 a year). But that is the base price, without towing and stuff added on. The only reason that we are talking with State farm is because they might do full coverage.
