Welcome to my new series “Building Through A Breakup” and boy is it going to move fairly quickly because a girl has got to function over here! We broke up a couple of days before my birthday and I spent my actual birthday moving the last of my things out of my ex’s - FUN…not. I zipped off to Joshua Tree with my best broad for a birthday/breakup getaway and I have to say I left a piece of my heart there. The trip came at the perfect time with the perfect people and really helped me accept that I am going to be going through a healing process for quite sometime. I fell in love with the Airbnb we stayed at which is my inspiration for my new room so I’m excited to show you the next little sliver which is my small closet! I hope you like where the new vibe is headed - love you guys xx.

I have to say, I’ve been watching from the very beginning and I’m so glad that you worked on this channel for yourself. I remember you mentioning in a video a long time ago that you could’ve easily kicked back and enjoyed the life you had with him but you wanted something of your own and I know that is definitely playing a big part in how you’re able to bounce back the way that you have.

I genuinely needed this video because I am in the process of moving back home after my dad passed away to take care of my mom (they are my grandparents since my actual parents passed when I was an infant) and I’m reorganizing my closet. Like you, I feel like everything is a mess in my life right now. I have watched so many of your videos, but from the last one to now, this new “Rachel” is also letting me know that it is okay to have a breakdown or 2, as long as we keep moving forward and giving gratitude to being alive and the lessons that come with loss. I’ve been watching your videos for a while now, but was living with my dad while I dealt with some health issues, so didn’t have a space to makeover. Unfortunately, my dad died unexpectedly in January and I’ve inherited the house, which I’ve had intensely mixed emotions about. When you do these type of makeovers can show show how functional things are? for example how you put stuff on the back wall like is it easy to access or do you have to move much to get it.I don't know if it makes sense

Unfortunately I'm not going to break down functionality all the time because I figured people can fill in the blanks/assess and build for their own needs. The bags hanging behind my dressier clothes on the left hand side are clothes I'm not grabbing for because COVID/quarantine and those are my nicer purses I would pair (sitting behind) with it by simply scooting the hangers over and grabbing. Necklaces are in easy reach as you can tell in the video and the pants again to get to them - scoot the hangers over.

I love the shelf for the work cloths and how it doubles as s laundry basket barrier-esp since its on wheels. I struggle with noth of those things. It’s super inspiring and I love that you show every detail because I have always wanted to know how to do this kind of stuff with tools and my own imagination, and you explain everything very well! You should do classes to teach us! I don’t know if you do that already but you are super good at explaining! Love this and it is gives me something to think about for my sons closet. I like the idea of using the flanges in the back but worry how accessible they will be by having to move the hanging clothes in front. Giving it some thought.

I love this look, and I wish I could enact all of it in my own closet. Unfortunately, I have a small closet with an even smaller doorway that I can't alter, and it makes the sides almost too deep to reach everything. However, in looking at this, I think I might be able to add shelves at the bottom the way you did which would be great to store some of my bulkier items and I'm excited to try that.

This reminds me so much of my best friend's closet from her old place. That girl had soooo many clothes (she loves bulky sweaters/jackets -_-), but a small room. Her closet was pretty much the same size as this one so she shoved as many cubes/organizers as she could fit in there and somehow managed to put away a lot of items in there. It was like the Mary Poppins of closets lmao. Anything she couldn't fit in were probably in a laundry hamper or donation bags xD
