Forgot to mention.. I can also turn on my truck key and my relays connect to the 7 pin .. I can also charge the two truck batteries

Very clean installation! How did you get the solar panel cables through the canopy? Do you find you get a voltage drop when you attach your extension cable to your trailer? You have inspired me to install solar on my canopy. Thanks!

Great video Thanks I want to live in my Ford truck for five months can I put solar on the top of my Leer camper shell top on my Ford F 150 with 5.5 bed and hook it to a 2000 W power station rather than getting the Victrola monitor? Any suggestions? Thank you

Hey Bill, I love the idea of running it through the 7-pin connector, an "alternate to the alternator"? Anyways, do you know what gauge wires are in the cable from the trailer that connects to the 7-pin? trying to figure out max amperage it could handle.

Can you do this with a briefcase solar panel? I have a goal zero 200W that is too heavy for me to set up and take down by myself and I'd like to mount it on my truck cap and be done with it. It will hook up to a goal zero power station. I'm not doing batteries so I don't need an additional converter. Any thoughts on this?

Is the 3m outdoor tape. Very strong. But use one 1/4 20 bolt on each corner. Tap was for a pad. Thanks

@@bparkinson1234 Great video Bill - Thanks! Do you think that the tape alone would be safe for a single panel horizontal mount? It looks like thats all you used on the vertical panel on the back of your trailer. I have a brand new A.R.E. canopy on order and I'm kind of cringing at the thought of drilling holes through the roof if I don't really need to. I do really like the looks of your set up though.

@Bill's Cool Projects - One more question - Do you have any recommendations for a solar panel with similar size and power output to the ones you have? As I said above, I'm waiting to get my new topper to be delivered (about 8 weeks out) and I'm trying to figure out how I want to do the solar stuff. Have also been considering flexible panels (CIGS?) glued directly on the roof. Thanks.

This is off topic, but you seem to know how to convert a wire from regular 110 to a 7-pin...my question is this: can you convert a 110v appliance wire to a 12v plug? AND can you convert a 110v appliance wire to a USB wire. (I’m not talking about getting inverters and charge controllers, I’m wondering about the wires themselves, can you cut off the 110v plug and put on a 12v plug or a USB plug to run it without an inverter?

JZ WakkiZakko to convert 12vdc to 115vac you need an inverter. There are many available based on power needed. You can get a small one at auto parts store with cigarette lighter plug. Thanks

whats that 360° light on your hood? And you feel comfortable using double sided sticky tape to hold that on?

The tape is acting as a soft pad. There are 1/4 20 bolt thru each mount to inside of topper with fender washer. I am retired Colorado ranger. Used personal vehicles sometimes. This red and blues

In Denver at a topper dealer on Colfax st. But was in 1998. The truck was made in 98 but is a 99. Long time ago. The used the paint code. Not there anymore. Thanks
