DIY STARTER MICROLOCS / 1 month update (Two strand twist locs). 

I was told in order to help with the marrying of locs that every few days you should go thru your locs & separate them. Also after washing them & before they dry completely you should separate your locs. Also I thought in your install video that you stated that you braided your ends so that your hair wouldn't unravel. I could be wrong but your hair is still pretty!

I have never seen microlocs this small, wow! They're sooo pretty. You must have like 1000 locs

I left my ends out as well because I didn't want my locs to be straight down. I am 1 year in and I love the volume of having my kinky curly ends. Your locs are gorgeous! Some of the tangles and marrying may be due to the amount of locs and the length of your hair. I have 600 locs and thought I had a lot. I never heard of anyone having 1000!! I do run my fingers thru my hair to keep the ends from tangling & I started using oil 6 months in. Thanks for the updates!! I'm excited for your journey!

They look great and I enjoy the updates and witnessing your process. I've seen it recommended often to braid/band your hair when you wash, and to take the time separate after washing to prevent marrying and tangles. I'm excited for next month and every month after for you. They are going to be beautiful.

I have sisterlocks and because of the texture of my hair I have big issues with them marrying right at about four weeks after my retie. So I suggest you get a retightening schedule and try not to wait too long in between retightenings or your hair will start thinning and you’ll lose locks. It’s also best to try to separate them while they’re wet as well. Good job on them because I could have never had enough patience to do that 👏🏾😊

So... *if locs are marrying each other* ... *is it ok to call it “wedloc”?* Hahaha. Sorry. Couldn’t help myself. I love these micros so much. I have been thinking of trying them out because my hair already has a natural grouping/locking pattern that is difficult to comb through...especially at the base. So I’ve been considering interlocking or palm rolling them where they group up and be done with it. Detangling is the worst.

Love your locs. I think some of the marrying comes from how much friction you are doing during your wash days. I notice you rub your scalp a bit so because of your hair type you will cause it to marry. Maybe be more gentle massaging the scalp during wash. Also water cause hair to loc due to your texture so you have alot of new grow and when that new grown has not been retied it will try to marry. I love your hair truly an inspiration.

Beautiful! I am curious to see how they thicken up in the year to come and beyond. I'm crying for whoever arms have to retie these! I have 357 and refuse to retie them. I love my loctician. LOL ! At 3 months in, I've committed to a No washing, products, swimming, satin scarfs, no head wraps, rose/aloe water at all. I band and sleep at night on a cotton pillow. I've found that my hair is locking faster without those anit-locking routines.

Hello dear ... your hair is fabulous ...small tip: when you are washing you hair make sur to braid and band (specially around your edges) to prevent slippage and unravelling. I also use this technique if I am going to the gym or to the pool. Maybe it will help you. Keep going your nice work

Your locs are beautiful! You started perfectly: good length and thick hair. Had you given it more time the water would have loosened up those ends. Your edges will continue to unravel until they are trained to lock. You have a lot of locs so you will definitely have to separate your roots and tips frequently. Mist your roots and tips with water before you start the separation process. Continue to enjoy your journey and let your hair do what it do. All loc journeys require patience.

Yesssss Beautiful Sister Queen! Frizz is not mandatory for luscious locs! I have no frizz and will not tolerate it! #braidingandbanding is Everything! I #interlocks My edges with #Reverse4pattern #microlocs For tangles wet fingers or mist scalp before touching Your locs! Once weekly run fingers ie finger combing roots and NO SCISSORS! There is Absolutely no way to determine which of these foundational scaffolding of retained hair is expendable. Do not trim wispy or frizzy hairs simply wrap locs at night. Aloe vera gel can cause buildup in 100 days presenting itself as white flakes or mimicking dandruff or dry scalp when it is build up. Many dye their locs black to cover and mask unhealthy loc habits! Use Kinky Curly Curling Custard if You must "tame" locs or smooth them. But remember the idea of loving your locs is Embracing the journey. Rosewater will help! I mist My scalp twice weekly and wash every other Friday! No conditioning and no moisturizing shampoo that are not ph Balanced clarifying for Our hair health. Love your hair! Great work. I have microlocs not nearly as many as you and I get some tangling but my assumption is that your locs are too small. Maybe join the ones that seem to marry the most. Just a suggestion.

Because your locs are so small i wpuld not pull them apart to separate them because they may not separate evenly and you may end up with some thinning roots. You don't have alot of leeway to lose strands. I would cut the individual single hair strands that are clinging. That way you can control how many strands are separated off. Also remember as your hair matures your locs will naturally thin in diameter as the hair becomes more matted and compact. This is a good thing though because you want them to have good tensile strength. Also be careful when retightening to not leave holes in your locs. Make sure you start your rety right where the loose hair ends. Just my two cents. Again they look really good!

Hello sweetie!!! I have to tell you... because our hair texture is similar. It takes a looooonnnng while for the perimeter to loc up. But do not worry... it eventually will. For me, every single month that I retightened my locs for about a year I would have to re-establish my locs. The best way to minimize the marrying and unraveling... it is still best to band the ends of your locs. I would say for at least 6 months while your hair is still trying to figure out what it going on!!! 🥰🥰🥰 But all in all enjoy the journey sweetness and try to have patience. I have been loc’d for 4 years. I installed and maintained my locs , and it was absolutely the best decision I have ever made!!! Oh yes... I almost forgot to mention... you and your hair are absolutely gorgeous 😍😍😍!!!

I have microlocs too and i separate them with my hands as well. You have way more locs than i do but i wouldn't recommend cutting.
