Great tutorial, super easy, done in 30 minutes. If you’re not used to sewing knits, you have to stretch the bottom band a little so the measurements match up- makes for a better fit.

Was able to successfully sew this... happy with the work...hint 1. First do a paper cutout so u don’t waste cloth 2. Choose the right material 3. Follow instructions and watch video few times before starting and while doing

Thank you , I was able o follow and do one for my grandson . Had some trouble attaching the band but I drape it over the carrier and that was so much easier .

Is the bottom piece sewn on right sides together and bottom piece even with the top piece? Hard to tell what is done by watching because of the fabric pattern and color.

The problem may be the width of the fabric as knits come in multi widths on the bolt. The length is a yard but was is the width?

Thank you for sharing. I love how it came out, thinking of making another, BUT, I do agree with some of the comments. This was a little frustrating and If it was not for the video and the link to the instructions, I would have given up.

The bottom part should measure 41"x5" instead of 36"x5". That's why the bottom was always too short for me. There was always so much extra on the top piece.

Great video. :) Im trying to make mine now. lol the fabric I chose was not long enough to make two pieces from the same side. but I sew the other side and got a piece. :D hopefully it will look as nice as yours.

Very frustrated right now, as 1 yard doesn't seem to be enough. I drew the pattern on paper and the fold line was 18.5" long; twice that is more than a yard. Also, the fabric wasn't cut straight by the clerk, so I am short over an inch of getting the second "house". Baby shower is in 3 days and it is snowing hard here. Any ideas on how to make this out of the fabric I have?

How many inches should there be on the top part between the bottom angles? AS to your measurments, I have way more top area than the band area using the longest edge!

Do you think the measurements would be any different if the fabric is stretchy but not a jersey stretch ? The one I have is a thicker stretchy fabric, cotton lycra. Any tips would be super helpful !

Kirah_ iModel Films so yours is more stretchy? Mine was more stretchy than regular jersey, so it totally works. Good luck!

Stephanie Simmons no, it's less stretchy. It's still stretchy but NOT as stretchy as a jersey knit. It's a thicker material. Still stretches but definitely not as much as jersey

If you decide to go ahead and use a less stretchy fabric, I would suggest adding an inch all around. I'm not sure how it will turn out, but that's what I would do. Good luck!

Does the jersey knit fabric have to four way stretch or will two way work?

+Natasha Wright This has a 4 way stretch and I highly recommend getting the 4 way stretch. I've made it with 2 way stretch and it just doesn't work well. :)

This is seriously the most frustrating tutorial I have ever tried to do. I have wasted money buying fabric twice now to try and make this and and have very carefully followed the instruction both times and the bottom piece never matches up to top to pin it around.

Tiffany Montgomery I'm not sure, but if I were you I would try stretching the fabric as I sew to make up any difference in the size. Perhaps that could work.

attempted to make this; however, the measured long strip at the bottom does not measure up correctly. anyone else have trouble with this part?

Elizabeth Menez I am also having this trouble! This pattern should be fixed. I measured 6 inches up and 11.5 inches on the angle but I couldn't do a 45 degree. All I did was made sure that the bottom part of the diamond shaped piece was 36 inches along were you join the two.

I hate to be negative but I have to agree with the masses. Followed this pattern exactly as the video shows and the angles/length just doesn’t match up when sewing the bottom to the top :(
