Btw- I've been trying to find your older videos lately. I'm really blessed to have found you a few years ago. You are the kind of person that gives me hope. Thank you, for being you. Really, you are a true gift to an undeserving world. A testimony of God's love for us, despite our shortcomings. I could write you a book of how much you have blessed me. I have led a difficult life and, to be honest, the challenges have only changed, not sure if I'll ever be rid of them completely lol... However, you have helped restore my faith. Thank you. I know I don't know you, but truly, and not in a weird way lol, I love you. You and your beautiful family. Thank you all. Thank you.

Wow I'm going to try this paper bag thing. I live in Florida and if I don't have the air conditioner on and I usually don't the humidity is kind of high and I have not been successful drying herbs with the hanging method. I wonder if the bag would help with that also not just the spiders. Guess we'll see! Thank you for the tip

Tessie Girl, watching you cut these herbs convinces me you need a gardening stool. I’d send you one, but it would cost more to mail it then it would be worth. You can however keep your eyes open for a small wooden stool at the thrift store. They often have these small stools donated by people who no longer have small children needing teeth brushing stools. Dollar General has a small plastic one that I bought years ago for $7.00. I use it all the time! Wooden ones are prettier and can be painted , but the plastic ones are light weight and can be hosed off and left outside for connivence in the garden. Your information is always so very helpful. I have spent so many hours learning from you over the past year that I now feel you are a family member. I am forever more telling my husband “Tessie says.....bla, bla, bla...whatever I have learned that day from Tessie” . I’m always so grateful to be able to watch you and learn the things you teach. I think the most important thing I have learned from you, so far, is to make peace inside our homes, on purpose. Make it homemade, use what I have, appreciate what God has been good enough to give me and keep a journal! Even a daily record of the work around the farm will be interesting to to my great grandchildren!

I don’t understand why your herbs being grown organically has anything to do with washing them. Doesn’t the dirt still splash up on them in the rain. I know you want them t be as dry as possible but I don’t see how you can get by with at least a quick spray off.

WOW! Great time saving tip to use the colander to do most of the work getting the leaves separate from stems! I've used the paper bag method when I have an abundance of one herb .. if I'm using the dehydrator & don't quite have enough trays to finish up a batch I'll lay a plastic table cloth covered by a clean sheet on the bed in my spare bedroom to dry the rest, this takes longer but helps save the harvest! *** LOL- I dehydrate lots (100 lbs. or more) of purchased, WHOLE, UNCUT jalapeños using the "sheet method" - after rinsing off the dirt and looking for any "soft" ones I spread them on the bed - I turn them once a day by "rolling them over" by running my hand across them - this makes watching/removing any jalapeño that's going "bad" easier, these take about 2 weeks or longer to dry depending on how much rain we've had - when completely dry , I break off stems then grind them in the food processer. I so enjoy seeing your garden! Makes mine look like a "kids garden" but I love growing all that I can. Hugs, Love and Prayers to you and all.

Thank you for sharing your seasoning mix. I haven't been using up my home-dehydrated herbs except for the basil. Guess I'd better get busy and make your seasoning mix! Edit: so right after this video I went out to harvest and now have a super-tall dehydrator load of dill, oregano, chives and thyme. The thyme is a bit iffy...it had started flowering but what the heck, worth a try. I kept the dill on its own trays so it won't be so hard to keep it separated from the other guys. Thank you for the push to get this done!

very good tips tessie ...have you tried flash freezing your herbs ??? for long term drying is better but to keep more of the flavor for short term say like a month or 2 try flash freezing some specialy this fall at the end of garden season ...when fresh herbs will no longer be available from your garden .... just cut them up on a cooky sheet and spread them around lightly and put in the freezer ...after they are frozen crisp put them in a ziploc bag and put back in the freezer .... do that part quickly so they dont have time to thaw and stick together when they freez again ...its not quite the same as haveing fresh herbs but they are better then dried herbs in a short run ....
